Lately I’m thinking…
I don’t have a lot for today

This video of people just wrecking & falling down (my favorite kind of humor) from my Russian friend Nikita. You don’t need sound, although the first minute or two it’s pretty funny to hear people scream and yell, but after that it’s just this weird techno background music and nothing else. Oh ya and it’s 7 minutes long

The Bird/Magic show on HBO, it’s really good. I really like when shows like that transcend sports, if that isn’t too cliche to say. I also watched half of the Reggie Miller 30 for 30 ESPN series, but i’m only half way through it. I was going to finish it before I mentioned it on here, but eh what can ya do. It’s good so far
Lately I’m thinking…
Filling out Brackets is stressful. The last couple years I’ve got down to my final four and then I’m like “wait, i don’t think these teams are going to make the final four”, but because of the bracket I can’t think of who else to put there. I’m also not sure if I should fill out every bracket the same for every pool, or change it a bit to improve your chances of at least one bracket being good. I just hate seeing an upset and then saying “I picked that! ..in a different bracket”, and then everyone you’re with is like “suuuure” or “who cares”. I think i’m going to try and have the same bracket in all pools for that reason. Oh and once you second guess your pick and flip it, you’re totally screwed, because now instead of possibly just incorrectly picking a game, you’re twice as mad at yourself if they lose for screwing yourself over. So you think about flipping it back, but now the “flip” argument applies both ways.

Lately I’m thinking…
Well Kansas was awarded the #1 overall seed in the tourney…and then got put in the toughest region, so I guess the ranking of the #1 seeds doesn’t actually apply to anything? Besides big 10 champ ohio state (who was in the running for a #1), co-acc champ maryland, and big east tourney finalist georgetown they also drew the only 2 teams to beat them this year and UNI is the exact kind of team that gives kansas trouble. Oh well, you have to win tough games to advance, and it’s not like they’ll play all those teams, but the committee definitely didn’t do them any favors.
This is really interesting…
I was on an ESPN chat yesterday for my comment “The supposedly top 2 teams (Kansas & Kentucky) have the two toughest roads”. I should be on TV or something
This is really interesting…
So the beer pong kicked off at 3:30 at work on Friday, and Dan and I went 5-0! 3-0 to win the bracket championship and then we won 2 more for good measure against challenging teams. At one point we were listening to Britts Mix (the CATS edition no less) playing out of the speaker on my iPhone! Somebody asked “is this the kind of music you listen to??” to which I just replied “Uh no”. The best part is every cat growl somebody would say “what?” at the same time I was saying “cats!”

Strong to quite strong – I had a great weekend with some skiing and some alehousing (in wedgewood), the tournament is rapidly approaching and my work gave me both Friday and Monday off as comp days for working so much the last couple weeks – bonus! Joey’s gadget problems are a cause of concern though.

Montana Fun Fact of the Day: No state has as many different species of mammals as Montana BONUS SHOUT OUT to Heather for getting accepted into 5 years of radiology programs! For some reason they don’t tell her where at until Thursday, but that’s great news

The new Reader Of The Week….All the way from the big apple, Jon ‘Farnatron” Farnum! Farnum invented the international sign of awesomeness (thumbs up followed an “OK” sign) and coined the term “Montana happens”. For example, if Nebel threw a wall paper roll at Mikey but missed and put a hole in the wall, you could say “Eh, Montana happens”. Farnum is an east coast reader without an east coast bias. You can collect your drink memorial day weekend, feel free to wash your face and iron your shirt before going out to collect.

And a bonus shout out to Mitchell Raun Thompson on his birthday!! Friday birthday this year, well done, hope you have a fun weekend planned. You probably want to make sure and enjoy this one considering next year you’ll be in your 30s. I remember whenever I went to get you a present for your birthday it was really hard because I usually wanted whatever I was giving you. I think i’d at least get one toy out of the deal at the store, thanks mom.

I can’t remember a longer week. I mean it’s not like it was a bad week, but the entire time it felt a day ahead. Yesterday I realized it was Thursday and not Friday on about 5 different occasions, incuding the first time when I told my boss “I can’t focus to save my life on a Friday”, “It’s Friday lets go somewhere fun for lunch” and when I left work and wanted to shout at the top of my lungs outside “It’s Friday!!”, until I realized it was still only thursday Anyways our beer pong party was supposed to start 14 minutes ago but everyone’s still working, i’m not sure if i should say something or what

We had a big new release to Whrrl this week – not really sure if that means anything to anybody reading, but there’s a link about it if anyone wants to read it. There’s obviously a lot more information out there and on the pelago blog

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!! Montana Fun Fact of the Day: “In Montana the elk, deer and antelope populations outnumber the humans.” I can’t believe I made it as long as I did without a pocket knife. I also can’t believe we call them “the humans” in fun facts. “She must have meant ten o’ clock at night! I just figured she was a raging alcoholic!”

Well considering I was at the office from 9AM – 10PM yesterday nothing has really happened since I last updated besides me going to bed, so this again might be a stretch. “Are there such things as horse socks? Is anybody listening to me?”
Lately I’m thinking…
Nebel, please don’t talk about golf when it’s frickin windy and raining – i can see white caps on the sound right now and thought I saw snow earlier (turns out they were pedals because all the trees got tricked into it being summer last week and bloomed) Uh anyways, back to the “point”, as if i had one. Oh ya, it’s coming full circle now…speaking of golf, here’s a picture of Mariah and I golfing. Heather had a good point about the photo that pretty much hit the nail on the head, “this encompasses many of the reasons why i beat you at golf.”

I got an evite from work for a beer pong contest in the office tomorrow. I was pretty excited about that, until I remembered what usually happens to me playing beer pong, and i’m not sure there’s a great intersection between that and being at work

Well Chip Kelly really backed himself into a corner with this whole jeremiah masoli / lamichael james thing. One of my favorite parts about the whole thing is their incidents are completely unrelated, but they both have their court dates on the same day tomorrow. Maybe everyone can carpool? Click here for an article about kelly’s tough spot (if you even care. i’m pretty much over it and actually think he might hand down a hard punishment sometime today. or at least that’s what everyone would assume he would do)

Welcome to the Wednesday edition of the gadget, the most consistently disapointing update of the week! Ya’ll come back now
This is really interesting…
Here’s an old picture of Jakers and I roping Brittney and taking her down. I don’t remember what happened next but I like to think I tied up her hands and feet really quick and then motioned to the rodeo official to stop the time, as opposed to her getting up, calling us “dummies” and hitting us, which is more likely what happened. Anyways, the moral of the story is I should have been cowboy

I’ve done a pretty good job of hiding Steph from catalogs and things, but yesterday I noticed she was browsing a lot of Internet consumer sights. She then jumped up and said, “when I get tons of money i’m going to buy tons of stuff!” I thought that was pretty profound on it’s own, until she said “I’m going to buy 8 comforters, one for every month”
Lately I’m thinking…
Since the Montana fun facts were such a hit from yesterday (0 responses, obviously) I’m going to make it a regular feature for the rest of the month, maybe even longer! So here you go, this week’s much anticipated MONTANA FUN FACT OF THE DAY: The average square mile of land contains 1.4 elk, 1.4 pronghorn antelope, and 3.3 deer.
The Soapbox:
(please note, 1.4 elk is an average, it doesn’t have anything to do with half-elks running around on 2 legs). Moving on………..”The human torch was denied a bank loan. “

Tanner you’re smart planning a week’s worth of pictures, gadgets just seem so much easier when the picture is lined up. Instead I’m sitting here scrolling through my photobucket account trying to find one I didn’t already use last week. Out of 3 pictures I was going to use this one took 3rd, but i decided to use it anyway, basically for no reason other than I’m unpredictable! what am i talking about? Anyways, I rode this bike to the gas station all by myself and rigged up the beer and ice, so i was pretty happy with myself. Scratch that, REALLY happy with myself. Unfortunately, half the ice melted on the 5 minute ride home, but seriously, what can ya do, it was hot!

Well after a 60 degree saturday with patio beers and flip flops Seattle tied a record low last night. Hey Seattle, Montana called and they want their crazy weather swings back!
This is really interesting…
Seriously though, Montana holds the U.S record for all time temperature range with the record low being -70 in January and the record high being 117 in July. What’s EVEN CRAZIER is Montana is the WORLD record holder for the greatest temperature change in 24 hours: 103 degrees! It went from -54 to 49 in Loma, MT in one day. KNOWLEDGE BOMB
Lately I’m thinking…
Unless you were in the market for some Montana fun facts and crappy random stories about last July, this update probably wasn’t for you. But seriously those weather facts are crazy

Work is really busy,I’m pretty out of it and have no idea what to talk about so i’m just going to wing this one. Anyways I went showshoeing for the 8th and probably last time yesterday. And by snowshoeing I mean walking, because the snow level has gone down so much I didn’t even need to put them on. Oh well, Seeley went crazy like normal and it was fun

One time Joey and I were skiing and went back and forth about 30 times on movie quotes. He then said “I think if we didn’t say movie quotes we wouldn’t have a single thing to talk about”. I didn’t reply to that statement, because I didn’t know what movie it was from

I’m going to go off on mario kart just a little bit in the soapbox
The Soapbox:
I don’t let very many things get to me, but Mario Kart on Wii has got to be one of the most frustrating things I’ve ever dealt with. I get stressed out, and to be honest I wouldn’t be surprised if one of these days I just launch the TV over the loft railing. Another thing that bothers me besides the actually game play, is that when you quit a race it takes you all the way back to the home screen, meaning you have to select the race mode, your player, your car, and the race all over again. Listen, if I quit a race it’s because you either hit me with a spike shell 2 feet from the finish line resulting in every single computer player passing me before I can get going and finish in last, or because I’m in 8th place (from previously getting screwed over) and the last item you give me for the home stretch is a single banana, and I just want to start the race cup over, not go back and start from square one. Anyways, I beat the special cup on 150 yesterday which was my last one, so i was pretty happy about that.

The new Reader Of The Week…Shooter McGavin!! PSYCH – it’s Britt Hesse! Britt regularly comments on the days gadget update, and unless she has the Cliff’s notes I’m pretty sure she reads at least most of it – and that’s more than enough to qualify! It also didn’t hurt that she got me peanut M&Ms and Twizzerls for my birthday. Enjoy your weekend of fame Britt, maybe you can cash that cocktail in tomorrow.

Yesterday I went to take a bite of a cupcake that had a ton of frosting, and in doing so got a bunch of frosting up my nose. Now I’m not telling you this because “it’s really interesting” or because I have nothing else to say (even though I don’t), it’s because it was horrible. Every time I breathed in I would smell it, and i couldn’t make it stop even after multiple nose blows. After about an hour I started to get a headache because I was basically huffing frosting every 2 seconds.

Did anyone see “The Marriage Ref” last night? I thought it was frickin hilarious. It was basically just 3 people (Sienfeld, Tina Fey and the just wonderful Eva Longeria) making fun of couples for a few minutes and then just picking a side, mostly based on if they were the same gender as the person or not. Good stuff
Current Status…
I’m at a sunny Friday 10! Iced chai in the morning, little MOD pizza for the first time all week, and a weekend with no plans ahead – can’t remember the last time that happened.

Hey like at this smaller sized playing card I have, pretty cool. OH WAIT! It’s actually huge! So is the flask! (click here!). Steph thought I was pretty stupid for buying a flask that big because “it’s going to be hard to sneak it in anywhere”. Well I haven’t come up with a response to that yet, but it’s frickin awesome. I might just try tucking it in my waiste line? Or pull it underneath a blanket in a wagon? (p.s. 421 forever)

I’ve been waiting most of the year for snow good enough to pay to ski on but it never really happened. Now that it’s march though i really want to go spring skiing, that’s the best anyway. I want to go to sun valley. I also want to see Gary Allen in MT, but I can’t drive to sun valley or MT after just taking a day off to drive there. I also heard he was opening for Brooks and Dunn who are having their last tour, so maybe I should just see that somewhere? I’m also really excited for opening day of baseball season, even though it will end up being the Mariners 7th game or something. Oh well. Wait, what am i talking about? Uhh i think my point is I just want to go skiing one of these weekends. Or maybe even just sit/stand in the sun somewhere

10! Today has just been a good day and it’s flying by. And sunny. and i just had a mountain dew!!!! Oh by the way “modern family” just gets funnier and funnier. Yesterday there was an asian lady on the show who said “I’m just never going to be the stereotypical asian my mom wanted me to be” and then proceeded to get in a car and hit 3 different things

Great games last night. I tried watching the kansas game on my computer while the duke game was on the TV. It was really hard, especially while trying to do some work at the same time. Whenever someone took a shot on one game, i would hear a whistle from the other game and yell’ “No way that’s a foul!!”. Well turns out it wasn’t, someone on the other game was just inbounding the ball. The whole thing would have probably been easier if I just muted one of the games, but instead I just took turns turning up the volume of whatever game wasn’t on commercial until it sounded like there were multiple people in the house yelling. More thoughts on the games below
The Soapbox:
Maryland rushing the court is a great example of how it happens too often – they also broke about 3 rules from the rick reilly article. Big win for them though at home on senior night and not a bad loss for Duke by any means. As far as kansas goes, Sherron Collins has been one of my favorite players since he was a freshman, and just became the all time “winningest” players in Kansas history. Bill Self is a ridiculously good coach too. Dating back to Illinois, he’s won 8 of his last 10 conference championships. Oh ya and in the 2 years he didn’t win it, he won the conference tournament championship. See you tomorrow
