Lately I’m thinking…

Bear hats are a looking to be a hot summer 2010 item. And look, when we stand next to each other it says “Montana State Bobcats”! That wasn’t even on purpose, but sometimes things just work out when you least expect them to

This is really interesting…

Here’s another little scrabble tid bit I found out last night – not only was steph just trying random words, she was GOOGLING things like “words that start with q and end with y”. No wonder I lost – i was playing against a robot with unlimited powers and infinite wisdom

Lately I’m thinking…

Anyways I’m back to playing again, we started a new game with mostly legitimate words and I won last night so I was super excited and super back on board. I’m currently losing though so I might quit forever again – i’m trying to play it cool though

Currently watching…

top chef – I always wonder to myself “what kind of tacos would I make?” if I was on that show and was given any challenge

The Soapbox:

“Well, that’s just great. You hear that, Ed? Bears. Now you’re putting the whole station in jeopardy.”

This is really interesting…

Here’s a picture of Tanner and I trying to sing “Any Man of Mine” in Seeley. Apparently the human pyramid didn’t work as well as last time, even though we practiced multiple times that day. Oh well, besides the fact everyone was convinced we were gay I think we pretty much killed it. “You gotta shimmy shake, Make the earth quake”

Currently reading…

Speaking of karaoke – the review from SEATTLE WEEKLY is up!!!!!  I think my favorite part is how he describes skeelo’s singing: “He grappled with some pitch issues but it was clear he had a deep connection with the song and he it sang with a ton of passion”. He pretty much just hit the nail of skee’s entire career on the head

This is really interesting…

I got scrabble on my iPhone yesterday which allows you to play someone else (steph) who uses their own phone. First of all I don’t really like scrabble, probably because I know about 35 words total, and I felt kind of stupid playing on our phones when we were sitting 2 feet away from each other, but steph convinced me it was just like playing a board game. Well I got super addicted to it and couldn’t handle it when steph wouldn’t play her turn right away. She went to bed and I made her take her phone with her and keep playing. She eventually just fell asleep with it in her hand so I was super frustrated but figured i’d just have to wait until today to play again. Well by now I frickin hate it. It lets you just put words on the board and hit okay to see if it accepts it. if not, just try something else. So the last 3 words steph used today are “qua”, “quey”, and “vivary”. uhh okay pretty sure this isn’t a making-up-words contest. It’s a vocab game not a guess-and-check letter puzzle. Anyways, at that point I was down 100 points so i quit and I’m never playing again. frickin ridiculous. I’m mad even talking about it

This is really interesting…

Steph took Seeley to work with her today – fun!

The Soapbox:

I probably need to add some different songs to my karaoke library.

Shout out to…

The Gadget! (and nebel of course). On Friday’s update I said I was driving to Portland on Saturday to pick up Seeley. Nebel read it and realized he was driving to Seattle on Saturday and BAM Nebel and Seeley came up together in the Subaru and saved me 6 hours of driving. That was even after I talked to him on the phone and didn’t put the two together myself. So you see, Gadgets, although slow (and dangerous behind the wheel) can still serve a purpose!

Lately I’m thinking…

Had a great weekend in the city of Seattle, where I live. Went to the mariners game on Friday night and in addition to not getting kicked out, got to play some ladder ball in the sun at pyramid beforehand, because for some reason out of the 100s of people there nobody was already playing it. bonus. On a side note the sun and heat are awesome outside, but not so bueno inside

This is really interesting…

I had $5 this weekend, and knew that was the exact number because I had tried to buy something for $8.99, and then something else for $5.99 and didn’t have any luck either time. Then I was walking Seeley on Sunday and stumbled upon a garage sale that had a bike. Steph and I have really wanted a bike for 3 reasons: A)It seems like we end up with a total of 3 people at our house fairly often, and so one person has to walk while the other two are on a tandem. B)There are times just one of us wants to take bike somewhere, but it’s pretty embarrasing to be on a tandem by yourself. C) It’s a pain to lift the tandem up from the side of the house for quick rides because it weighs 189 pounds. Anyways, I asked the lady how much it was and she said $5! I was so excited I didn’t even know what to do. She then double checked with her husband (his bike) and he said it was $8. I said I could give them 5 now and try to get the other 3 dollars in a week or so, so they sold it for 5! So Seeley and I rode our new friend “Calamity Jane” home.  BTW apparently the tandem is named “the closer”.  And also I now have $0 for the rest of the month

Shout out to…

skeelo…

Shout out to…

The new Reader of the Week…..Brice!! Brice is a Montana State grad and Seeley Lake local who’s cabin is next door to Tanner’s, which is obviously a disaster considering he makes the same kind of bad decisions as Tanner. Last year I put 17 snake bites on his tab and he didn’t even get one – guess I should have put 18 on his tab? Anyway it should pretty much even out as you win a free cocktail for being selected this week, which I’ll have to pay you next 4th of July I imagine, so don’t forget. Click here for a bonus brice video

Shout out to…

Everyone who showed up for karaoke last night, especially to the early birds Steph, Skeelo, and Morgan. In fact, they were the only 3 there when it started, so I was a little concerned, especially when we couldn’t get the machine to work. Skeelo belted out some classics though to get the place started. By the end of the night it filled up and we had to start refusing songs at midnight – oh and I had an awesome time. Hopefully we got the reporter drunk enough that he was convinced he was having an awesome time too.

This is really interesting…

On a side note, between Steph’s tab and my cab fare this karaoke “job” is doing the opposite of making money

This is really interesting…

Mariners-yankees game tonight with an 88 degree forecast – yes please. The yankees are good. The mariners are bad. We’re probably going to trade cliff lee to them today too. He should probably just wear neutral colors and then whatever dugout he’s told to report to he can just borrow a hat or something.

The Soapbox:

Have a fun and safe weekend everybody!! Seeley the Dog comes home this weekend after a week in Portland!

Current Status…

9.5 – I finally feel recovered from the weekend and a few 4th of July pics are starting to show up. America had a birthday, and we celebrated it!

This is really interesting…

It’s karaoke again tonight! If you come across a Seattle Weekly, check page 25 – i’m on it! I’m basically famous and it’s going right to my head. Click here for the pdf version. btw it starts at 9:00 at the Ale House, and you should come

This is really interesting…

Sometimes when I’m sitting in my house watching TV I like to go out into the 90 degree weather and cool down. Side note: I need blinds and A/C stat

This is really interesting…

I bought a 12 pack of coke from a giant 4th of July display at the gas station in Bonner, MT on the way to Seeley Lake. Once I opened them up I thought it was pretty strange they had santa on them and said “Holidays 2009”. That isn’t very 4th of July at all

This is really interesting…

“Blade Bugers” were on special for about 7 hours Saturday night, hope you got one while the lasted. On a side note, I think that was my last time ever changing the sign. Falling asleep in the forest and then getting rained on is one of the main factors in that decision

Current Status…

Not high. I thought the elevators were broken at work today. Turns out it was obviously just user error

Shout out to…

Everyone at Seeley Lake

Lately I’m thinking…

I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited to not go on vacations for a while. Oh well except for my family reunion next weekend, but I’m guessing that will be a little more reasonable than the family reunion I just had in Seeley.

The Soapbox:

Steph made it all the way home on her bike a grand total of 0 times. One night she fell and we made her walk it the rest of the way, and the other night we jammed her and her bike into a car. On a side note, I hope to have some pictures up next week

Current Status…

Oh I don’t know how about a billion!? Well since this isn’t Nam’, and there are rules, I’ll go with a 10. Hopefully I can maintain this straight through the great status crash of 2010 Sunday morning. I’ve got a 1 year old’s bday party tonight (first time for both us) followed by Molly’s bday at bleachers. Then tomorrow after some Mackenzie River Pizza and 10,000 Silver Dollars shopping the Jeep, scratch that the PRIUS (it’s 2010 you know) will be touching down on C Street around 6:00 PM MST. Game on. Throw a family email chain on top of that and you have yourself a good day

Shout out to…

Ryan Klitz (& fam) for taking care of Seeley this weekend. She loves you. Bonus shout out to steph for driving her most of the way down there.

Lately I’m thinking…

Tanner didn’t you ask for hail earlier so you can get a new roof?? Well I bet you didn’t consider everyone else’s windows who got busted out

Lately I’m thinking…

okay turns out I just didn’t have anything else to put here. Oh Mom I have a question – the 1 year old birthday party is a pizza party – when was my first pizza party? I bet it was awesome

The Soapbox:

Mack River, MT, boats, karaoke, filling station, man station, yard games, Britt’s Mix, country, no rules, Smokey the bear (and handler), bikes, mopeds, golf, gay borgers, yor mon, and last but not least, AMERICA. “Let Freedom ring, let the white doves sing”.
