Lately I’m thinking…

I know I’ve been slacking on this thing, but I definitely don’t want to go more than 2 days between updates so here you go, one forced update with no real content, just for you!  On a side note, I think about Rosas pizza all the time

Currently Watching…

Wow fall TV is back.  Went to Arizona for a few days, came back, and the DVR was at 98%.  In the last couple days I’ve caught up on How I Met Your Mother, Boardwalk Empire, Modern Family, The Office, 30 Rock, PTI, and Always Sunny in Philadelphia.  Oh and I decided to watch ep 1 season 1 of dexter last night…smart.  Since my “no TV for summer didn’t work out, i’m guessing fall is going to be an even bigger disaster.  Luckily by the time we send our netflix in to get a new one, that movie is already on HBO or TNT or something so we don’t have to waste our time watching those.

Lately I’m thinking…

In the future instead of going to mexico or hawaii or something for sun, I’m probably just going to go to carefree, AZ where i can stay for 50 bucks a night, have Kirk bring me pizza and have Carl shuttle me around in 100 degree weather.  Who’s coming with me??

This is really interesting….

so far our fall has been like our summer, except way nicer.  Interesting weather tidbit, maybe just for tanner, I saw a weather blog (don’t ask) that said it was our worst summer in 30 years.  And then just yesterday we recorded our most humid day of the year.  Wow, i should just end this

Lately I’m thinking…

I had an awesome time in Arizona.  It was 100 degrees everyday with no clouds in the sky and the resort we stayed in played country music the entire day.  Add in the fact our poolside waiter learned he could bring a rum and coke whenever he thought necessary and it was a nice vacation.

This is really interesting…

after the wedding we really wanted some food, hopefully pizza, so we went to the hotel bar.  Their Kitchen was closed though so they told us where the peanuts were, as long as we promised not to get them on the floor…which I don’t we did?  Anyways then I realized that there was a free shuttle to a bar/restaurant in town, so I asked the shuttle driver if he could just pretend I was in the free shuttle, go to the restaurant to pick up a pizza, and then pretend I was in it going back – basically just asking if he would go pick up pizza for us, to which he said yes!!  Unfortuntely the bar wouldn’t answer their phone for a to-go order, so we ended up just going to the bar and getting food ourselves, along with some drinks and dancing of course since we were there.

Shout out to…

Steph for the best wedding toast I’ve ever heard my entire life, and also for getting Seeley last night

Lately I’m thinking…

One of these days I’m going to make it easier on myself to work on a Monday

The soapbox…

Huge victory by the Cats on Saturday, especially after ewu just beat the griz.

This is really interesting…

I got the waitresses attention and then hit her with the yelling bobcat monster.  And she didn’t even see it coming.  “Excuse me flo”

Currently Reading…

This article about the oldest man in the world celebrating his 144th birthday in none other than Great Falls, MT.  Nate I would say this could one day be you but probably not after that bachelor party.  A couple fun facts:  He was born the same year as Babe Ruth. He collected Social Security when Kennedy was shot.

This is really interesting…

Last update of the week here as I’m off to Arizona for a wedding tomorrow morning.  Looking at 100+ poolside temps there.  Kind of like what we golfed in last week, but opposite.  Let’s do a quick Q & A session as a special feature.  Q:  Do I travel too much?  A:  What is Yes

This is really interesting…

There’s a taco truck outside the office with 4 (cuatro) tacos for 5 (cinco) dollars.  So I guess that takes care of lunch 3-4 times a week.  On a side note, how about a joke.  Q:  What do you call 4 mexicans in quick sand?      A:  Quatro Cinco!  jajajajajajajaj

The soapbox…

Have a great rest of the week.  Good luck to Bone City tomorrow

Shout out to…

Nate Nebel after his bachelor weekend in Bozeman.  I would call that trip anything but social, but eh what can you do.  I’ll have more on it in the next week or two with some pictures, but needless to say I had an awesome time.  Oh on a side note, we ordered 80 inches of Rosas on Saturday.

This is really interesting…

The Bozeman airport is my favorite lodge/airport.  I was going through security on Sunday pretty hung over and only had 1 “liquid” therefore not really needing a baggie to hold all my liquids together, just like when I left Seattle.  However the security guy handed me one and said please put that in this.  So I did, and 10 seconds later a 2nd security guard said she was going to have to test my baggie for explosive residue and took me aside.  I said I just got it from you guys 10 seconds ago but she still thought they better double check it.  Meanwhile I heard a lady on the intercome say “welcome to bozeman flight 1180, your bags will be downstairs by the bear”.

Shout out to…

Seattle Pizza Club for another successful outing last night at a New York Pizza Place – SPC is dominating right now

Lately I’m thinking…

This icing thing has got to stop.  Seriously.  Can we make a rule no icing in Portland or something – it’s turning into an arms race

The soapbox…

Well for what seems like the 40th weekend in a row the Cats and Dawgs failed to both win on the same day.  As a little added bonus though the griz lost for the 2nd game in a row which got the corner club a litte lively.

This is really interesting…

I took Seeley to work for the first time today.  She proceeded to demolish a toy that she has never really played with at home before, so that’s pretty cool I guess.

This is really interesting…

Miller and I went to wing dome last night because apparently I didn’t get the memo I wasn’t allowed in my own house during Steph’s committee meeting.  Delicious by the way.  Anyways, we were about to leave when the 6 high school kids next to us decided they were ALL going to to do the “7 wing, 7-alarm challenge”.  Really it was like 1, maybe 2 that wanted to do it, but it was the most obvious example of peer pressure I’d ever seen.  So they all ordered this $7 challenge as well as a $5 recovery kit (2 milks and an ice cream sandwich) for after, so all in all about $72 after they just ate.  Um anyways again, Miller and I decided to pick “teams” and place bets on which team would get the most wings down.  My #1 overall pick (Ryan leaf) totally blew it and didn’t finish any, but my 2nd (3rd overall) ate like 3 and I won a 12 pack of beer!  Between 6 guys, they finished 5 of the 42 wings and everyone was yelling and jumping up and down.  Great entertainment

This is really interesting…

(interesting day I suppose…) Even after telling Steph how much these guys struggled with the wings (including 1 almost/maybe actually? puking) and how I could hardly even handle the smell she remained convinced she could do it. We went back and forth for like 20 minutes on me disagreeing with her but she was still adamant it wouldn’t be a problem.  Oh ya until she finally said “my biggest problem is probably the fact I don’t eat meat”

Lately I’m thinking…

Rosas pizza, Cats, Mackenzie River, Specs, Korner club/Purple Place, Nebel, Bachelor Party, tailgating, golf, free ice, ale works, family, and to be honest rosas again.

The soapbox…

I’m off to Bozeman, MT tonight so this is the last update of the week.  Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!  Looking for a HUGE win at home for the Huskies against nebraska and a HUGE win for the Cats against their arch rival the Drake Bulldogs who I’m pretty sure we’ve never played before.

Shout out to…

Skeelo for the tailgate and UW for winning at the home opener – I had an awesome time!  Since Steph and I park so far away we decided to ride the tandem (the closer) in from the car which was fantastic.  Very fun day.  Sports!

Lately I’m thinking…

Going back out until 2:00 AM after going home was probably unnecessary though.  I tried taking the bus out from our house to save money, but took the wrong one heading south towards tukwila.  Then I eventually realized it and jumped on another one that was at least going north, but only to downtown, not wallingford like I originally planned, so I had to cab it from downtown.  Basically I saved $5 by adding 45 minutes to my trip.  dolla dolla bills youngin

Currently Watching…

I don’t want to get ahead of myself as we’re still in the contract negotiations phase with Zak, but I’m working on a deal to bring you 24 hours real access to Blade America, through a program called “Blade TV“.  Think of it as the Real World where “people are actually pretty polite and already real”

Currently Watching…

Steph and I will pretty much see anything playing at the Big Picture, so on Friday we saw “Machete”.  It was easily the most realistic movie I’ve ever seen.  On a side note, Steph casually asked if we could leave about 9 times.  “Machete don’t text”

The soapbox…

There were a few questions as to why I wasn’t at the MSU game on Saturday.  Pretty simple really

  • I’ve been out of town 4 of the last 5 weekends, including the last 3, with last weekends being a 10 hour multi state adventure.  It actually starts to get pretty exhausting and expensive
  • I’m going to Bozeman this weekend to watch a cat game
  • The MSU folks I was going to meet (Mikey, Nate, Tanner) had to bail for their own reasons
  • I bought season tickets to the UW games, and am currently in line to attend 2 of the 6 (would have been 1 game if I missed BYU)
  • Obviously I would have loved to make the trip to Pullman, and I can’t believe the cougs snuck out a 1 point win against Your Montana State University Fighting Bobcats.

Shout out to…

The new Reader of the Week…Zak Downing!!  Zak is seen here dunking on a 10.5′ rim.  He’s also done some of the bonopio videos that I’ve linked on here before.  Here’s another one that was done at the Husky Central grand opening.  I was there, so I’m obviously completely devastated that I wasn’t inlcuded in the video – it would’ve had to be better than the time he put me on the jumbotron trying feeding Seeley a chocolate chip cookie telling her it was a duck but then having to tell her she actually couldn’t eat it because it had chocolate in it.  Anyways congrats on the big honor Zak, I owe you a PBR 12 ounce can at the tailgate tomorrow.  sports

Lately I’m thinking…

Speaking of tailgates….Tailgates!!

Currently Watching…

I’m not sure what JB does during work, but he sure seems to find some great videos, like this one.  You don’t need sound, but it’s funnier with it I think.  I mean i was crying this morning

Shout out to…

Bone city!!  Big win last night leaving the league with only 2 undefeated teams left, which we will convienently play in the regular season finale next week.  Bonus shout out to the POGs David Juan Fisher and Stephanie Klitz!!!

The soapbox…

Go Dawgs and Go Cats, both playing in the lovely state of washington!  Unfortunately even after rough games personally I still have media obligations:
Erin Andrews: You went 0-3 last night with 1 RBI
Blade: What on earth is an individual stat?  never heard of that before. All i know is we won

Erin Andrews: cut the crap
Blade: Okay.  I sucked.  But we won.  And I wore American pants
Erin Andrews: I can’t stay mad at you

Erin Andrews: Do  you think defenses are keying in on you?
Blade: Possibly, they do seem to all be moving in….and I dont’ seem to be as effective when people don’t just drop very catchable balls

Erin Andrews: What do you think was the play of the game?
Blade: Fisher made a ridiculous sliding catch.  Oh ya and he accidently knee’d a girl in the face.  So those 2 were probably tied

Erin Andrews: Thanks Blade
Blade: Thank you, have a fun and safe weekend everyone out there

This is really interesting…

In my “welcome to amazon” email I mentioned I ‘liked’ pizza.  Well it’s already paying off as we had pizza delivered to a meeting today because everyone thought it sounded good.  Bonus city. I can’t wait to tell everyone that I’m in a club and super legit.  Oh btw this is a picture of how i left my desk at Pelago.  I hope to get to that kind of artillery point here

This is really interesting…

We have a vending machine right around the corner from my desk, which usually would be a good thing I suppose but I took a look in it today and it’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.  The entire bottom two rows are different kinds of bottled tea, and then you move on to like luna bars and dried fruit chips or something.  Obviously Amazon doesn’t make it’s money of it’s vending machines

Lately I’m thinking…

sports!  Little early to start thinking about the weekend, but it’s hard with Thursday kickball, some Leny’s and then the first Saturday home game/tailgate against syracuse with some hopefully sunny skies!  Maybe even swimming weather??

Currently Watching…

The other day we were flipping channels and Steph put the TV on “Curb your enthusiasm”.  We watched for a few minutes and then I was like “what on earth is that scrolling thing at the bottom?” to which she replied “oh this is the TV guide channel”.  Apparently now instead of saying “TV Guide” on the comcast guide it says the actual name of the show currently on the TV guide channel.  I was completely blown away, it’s the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.  A) If you wanted to watch an actual show, who would watch it with the channel scrolling thing on the bottom and B) If you didn’t have a comcast guide or something I guess and wanted to see what was on every channel why would you watch this thing scroll through channels 2 measly channels out of hundreds at a time!  it’s outrageous!

The soapbox…

Go Bone City!  Big test against an undefeated team tonight – tough league this year

This is really interesting…

Here’s a picture of Joe drinking a beer while holding a snake at the gorge.  nature.  On a side note, we literally won 7,000 games of washers in a row, including an airplane fly around sky-five at the end of each one.  My favorite was Jakers saying “I’m going to be even more upset when you lose because you’re going to come up with some excuse about playing too long”

Lately I’m thinking…

sorry for the extreme lack of updates the last week or two.  Things have felt super busy and I’m still getting settled in at Amazon (i.e. I have no idea what’s going on yet)

Shout out to…

The whole gorge crew, I had a really good time.  The trip has become more of a tradition for me than anything, but everytime I leave a concert I wonder why I didn’t attend all 3 shows.  Saturdays set included stay or leave, #41, warehouse, the stone, 2 step and watchtower with ben harper on the slide guitar

Lately I’m thinking…

I’m finally starting to feel back to normal after a Thursday of kickball/karaoke, Friday and all day Saturday at the gorge and then a Sunday wedding in Portland basically right when I got there.

The soapbox…

transcript from last week’s interview with Erin Andrews, after a really dissapointing tie
Erin: Was that your worst game of all time, going 1-3 with 1 RBI?
Blade:  Uh no Erin, I played the entire 2009 regular season without a “kick” I’m pretty sure, thanks for bringing it up

Erin: Sorry sweetie

Lately I’m thinking…

Seeley isn’t much of a fetcher, but she’s a heck of a hiker.  I was basically dying the entire time yesterday and Seeley basically ran back and forth in front of me on the trail the entire time

This is really interesting…

Seeley and I hiked Mt Si yesterday.  Steph spent two days telling me how quick and easy it was so I didn’t bring any food or even really wear hiking socks.  Of course it turns out she meant to say little si the whole time, but those are probably just details.  8 miles later it was 2:00 PM and I was pretty darn hungry, and I feel like Seeley unfairly got more than half of the water.

Lately I’m thinking…

sorry about the no-update yesterday, I’m in between jobs and hence in between computers

This is really interesting…

there’s college football on today!!

The soapbox…

nice little Thursday – heading to the beach club right now to try and get my first tan of the summer, then kickball tonight followed by karaoke.  Then it’s off to the gorge tomorrow, wowzers
