Shout out to…

The new Reader of the Week…Blake Johnson!!  Blake used to be a lot stronger than me.  Now he does cross fit and he’s a lot lot stronger than me.  Blake lives in Seattle with his lovely wife Ali and his dog Higgins.  Higgins has always had allergies, but they just found he is allergic to….wait for it…people.  I’m not sure he’d survive in the wild, so they give him medicine so he can continue to be around people.  Blake, I owe you a pint of beer at the Beveridge Place Pub sometime in the very near future

This is really interesting…

So I just got my “end of year dividend” from REI, which basically gives you store credit for 10% of your purchases on regular priced items throughout the year.  They’re also having a 20% off one item sale, so I went in during my lunch break yesterday and made some purchases.  The problem is, I almost never buy anything full price there, so my dividend was…$5.00.  I only bought 3 pairs of socks yesterday too.  Which means after applying my $5.00 credit and taking 20% off ONE pair of socks I saved about $5.08 on one of the biggest sales of the year.

Lately I’m thinking…

Okay here’s the deal, about 15 minutes after my weather rant/monologue yesterday, the clouds broke up and it became partly sunny.  So here’s my new argument:  If it’s going to be rainy over half the day and then partly sunny the rest, you can’t just have a picture of partly sunny, it needs to be an icon with clouds, sun, and rain.  Then if at any point during the day the current weather icon isn’t somehow incorporated in the “predicted” icon then you need to update that icon.  Wait, does anyone even care about any of this?  Sorry, moving on

This is really interesting…

The other night I was kind of hungry but it was bedtime, so I took a peanut bar downstairs and just ate it in the bathroom where I was waiting to brush my teeth for bed.  It felt like I was trying to hide something, but I wasn’t

The soapbox…

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!  M’s game tonight followed by Fisher’s Bday tomorrow at Market Arms (by the harbor!)

Shout out to…

The new Reader of the Week…Annie Arbenz!!  Annie is a UW grad and was a member in Steph’s sorority, alpha mamma jamma.  She loves disney, mini coopers, and owns a dog with her husband Casey.  She is also really into a book series about troll princesses!  April Fools!  No wait, actually that’s not a joke, I’m serious.  I owe you one beer in a mini glass tonight, congrats!

This is really interesting…

The Mariner’s ‘opening day’ isn’t until next Friday!  That’s probably the latest opening day in sports history.  They didn’t even get a road opening day yesterday, they had to wait until today.  At first I felt like we got a bum deal, but then I realized it’s been cold and frickin pouring the last 2 days.  So here’s to hoping it’s 75 and sunny by next Friday

Currently Watching…

Top Chef and Top Shot. Both top “sh” sounding shows that are spelled differently.  I’m an idiot

Currently Watching…

I usually don’t like when people use laser pointers with pets, not sure why, but anyway this video is pretty impressive/funny

The soapbox…

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!!  Kansas lost to VCU in the elite 8…APRIL FOOLS!  Crap, I don’t’ have any April fools jokes.  Usually this just signals that May Day is 1 month away.  Bonus Birthday shout out to Alex who allegedly turns 21 today

Shout out to…

The special Thursday edition Reader of the Week…Alex Ryan!  Alex was a member of the infamous Sunday Funday, and has recently been racking up the points by recommending Crazy Heart, getting Steph hooked on some field roast or something, and hosting dance parties.  -1 point for the knee issue though, sorry.  Congrats, and your prize is one touchdown at bleachers, and you get to pick the flavor, what a deal!  Fun Fact:  Alex is the only person that has fallen down our stairs.

Shout out to…

Miss McRae and Tanner for donating to our fund-raising team!  Unfortunately the event had to be canceled due to too much rain basically flooding the course (who would have thought it would rain so much this time of year…).  We’re still going to Portland this weekend and the event has been rescheduled for August, and all of your donations are still good for that event, so thanks again!

Currently Watching…

Wire Wednesday’s fools!  Ya I know, I’m a little late to The Wire, but we started last night with Bonar and Miller and made it through 2 episodes…not sure how long that means it’s going to take us to finish all the seasons…but whatever.  I still haven’t decided if I want to be a cop or a bad guy, I just know I want to get in the game.  On a side note, picturing Pat get really into The Wire is even easier than before.

Shout out to…

Al “Papa” McRae on his birthday!!  Hard to think of someone I’d want to be more like than him.  Well except maybe in basketball, whenever we would play and I would go up for a jump shot he would either poke me in the stomach or step on my foot before I jumped.  It’s hard to get that call in a game with no referees.

The soapbox…

I’ll be in Portland tomorrow so have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!

Shout out to…

The new Reader of the Week….Alex Umbdenstock!  Here is a picture of Alex in Snoqualmie National Forest logging…Alex is a giant.  Alex is married to Lauren (also Umbdenstock, obviously) and they are expecting their first child this summer!  Congrats Alex, I owe you tall can of beer

This is really interesting…

Schools in Seattle had a snow day on Wednesday.  Oh and we got 0 inches of snow on Wednesday – nothing.  Schools were just canceled as a precaution.  On a side note, I never had a snow day my entire school “career” in MT, except for maybe 1 day in kindergarten I think because they couldn’t open the school doors or something.  My favorite part about Wednesday was seeing two snow plows cruise past our house…on cement.  It wasn’t even raining.

Currently Watching…

Top Shot – people basically just shoot a bunch of stuff.  It’s great

This is really interesting…

I could barely talk at work this morning because i sang (i.e. yelled) so many songs at karaoke last night.  We had some Amazon employees from India that were in town that came – we had them sing “coming to America” by Neil Diamond, which they had never heard before.  A little rocky until everyone was just able to yell “TODAY!”

The soapbox…

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!  The Snow Joke is this weekend in Seeley Lake (which we aren’t running in this year) – last time I checked the temp there today it was -11 degrees.  Also a reminder to please donate to our team to help fight cancer – thank you!!  http://or.pineapple.llsevent.org/blade

Shout out to…The new Reader of the Week…..Cyndi Klitz!!  Cyndi is an avid blog reader which may or may not be because I set it to their homepage.  I thought that was a good thing until she started letting me hear it about not always updating, but what can you do.  Cyndi enjoys spending time with her kids, her grandkid (Seeley), and riding the tandem bike all over the streets of Seattle.  She’s also pretty darn good at the card game “Tourettes”.  I owe you one glass of Meridian Chardonnay next time I see you.

This is really interesting….It’s 6:45 on a Friday night and I’m still at work basically waiting for an email to come in so I can finish my stuff up.  I’m also drinking a warm bud light.  Not the most ideal situation

This is really interesting…Well SPC was a smashing success last night, fun time.  Afterward we decided to go across the street and get some “custard”.  Steph saw that Andes mints were an option for extras, so she ordered ice cream with an andes mint on top.  The lady informed her they were blended up and mixed in with the ice cream, but steph pointed and said she just wanted one on top like that one.  The lady then had to explain that they came crushed up, and the display mint was multiple years old.  So steph just decided to skip on the andes mints altogether and get sprinkles….

This is really interesting…Karaoke was just absolutely blowing up last night, I’ve never seen it so packed in there.  2 husky coaches were there as well, although I couldn’t convince them to sing the thong song.  On a side note, I made 0 dollars.

The soapbox…Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!!   Happy Birthday Britt!!

Blade, why did you pick this one?

Shout out to…

The new Reader of the Week…Jay Blazey!  Blazey was recently married to Yogi and has a dog named Winston, but more importantly is the Co-Founder, COO and Director of Research and Development of the Seattle Pizza Club.  Blazey has also been known to show up at karaoke night, and his new hobby is attending lunches at the all you can eat meat place.  Congrats Blazey, I owe you a blue moon.  On a side note, SPC is meeting Sunday night at Northlake Pizza Tavern.  If you would like to go, contact an officer and let’s do it!

This article by Sports Illustrated about how the real booster story of the national championship game is Phil Knight, not Newton.  Some crazy stuff.  Miami is building a brand new academic support building at 13.6 million dollars. Oregon just built one for 41.7 million!

Just finished my first book on the Kindle, “the girl that…” the fire one (number 2).  I don’t usually read fiction books so I’ve just been telling myself it’s a real story, which is crazy!  Apparently Steve Klitz finished his first book the day he bought it.  He told me “blasted” through it.  Oh ya and Steph has quietly updated her blog twice in the last couple weeks, as opposed to once in the 8 previous years.

Currently Watching…

I’ve said since last season I wasn’t going to watch the bachelor.  But we recorded the first episode last week.  When we went to watch it the picture is all scrambled and fragmented which is not comcastic.  But maybe it was meant to be like that – maybe it was giving me a 2nd job to hold on to my promise.  Did anyone see it?  Is it horrible?  Please just tell me to accept my 2nd chance and not watch any of this season.  Unless it’s really good….

The soapbox…

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!! Playoff football tomorrow

Shout out to…

The new Reader of last Week…Scott Hitchcock!!  Scott is an officer in the Seattle Pizza Club (seen here awarding 3rd place in the frozen pizza cook-off).  He’s a gonzaga alum who also shows his fair share of support for the Bobcats, including attending the Cat-griz satellite party this year and cheering on the good guys victory.  On January 31st he will be on a massive scavenger hunt trying to win one free dinner at Canlis per year for a friend of his choice, as he was one of the winners who found the hidden 1950s menu.  Congrats again, and don’t forget I owe you a tall boy

This is really interesting…

Blazey, Miller, Moop and I went to the all you can eat meat buffet for lunch today for 2 hours.  I’m currently incredibly full, don’t feel well, and for some reason feel really paranoid.  I’m also hot.

Shout out to…

Bonar on his bday and everyone who came out to celebrate with some Karaoke on Saturday night!  I seriously had an awesome time.  I knew my Kelly Clarkson shirt would come in handy sometime in the last 6 years.

This is really interesting…

I made up a joke on Saturday.  Q:  What do you call a money store in California???     A:  Burrbank.  ZING BAM AHHAHAHAHHAH JAJAJAJAJJA

Shout out to…

The new Reader of the Week….Ryan Klitz!!  “Brother?  I’ve always wanted a brother!”  Ryan went to missoula for a bit and is a duck fan, but other than those two absolutely completely devastating features I can’t say a single bad thing about him.  Should be a fun week at the Klitz residence tonight as Ryan had a work bowling event at around 10:00 AM and Brett gets home from Italy today!!  You crazy kids have fun.  Ryan, I owe you a full bottle of red wine from the cellar, similar to the ones you always give me

This is really interesting…

Had a delicious iced grande chai and peppermint brownie today from Starbucks, so it’s been a pretty good day.  All for the low price of around 50 dollars

This is really interesting…

We got thai food for dinner last night (yes I eat thai food, I eat practically everything now.  i.e. the pieces of meat from the meal) and every single time I’ve ordered thai food, no matter how many stars I ask for it’s not hot.  So last night I told Steph I wanted “100 stars”.  Well pretty sure she just told them 5, but the kicker is I ordered the spicy beef which already had a star next to it indicating it was spicy.  So that’s basically 6 stars when you add them up!  Anyways it wasn’t bad for a while, but then I think I got a Thailand death pepper up my nose or something, because I was sneezing uncontrollably.  I was basically gasping for air in between my sneezing frenzie while my eyes were watering and my nose was running.  I bet I was sneezing about 25 times per minute.  I’m thankful to be alive to tell you this story to be quite honest.

Currently Watching…

Top Chef All Stars.  I’m going to puree or deconstruct something.

The soapbox…

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!  There’s no football on tomorrow, what on earth are we supposed to do on Saturdays, I can’t remember.  “Tons of stuff…late night pitch and putt…go to the livestock auction and cruise the 4-H babes…throw stuff off the bridge.  What do you feel like doing?”

Shout out to…

The new Reader of the Week….Eric Jacobs!!  Eric and I went to junior high and high school together, and we’re in the same gang.  He went to Redlands for college, and has since lived in every city in the US with a population over 40, currently in Denver.  Ahh the sunshine state.  One time Eric and I had an 8:00 AM Saturday tennis match but we went out Friday night anyway.  It got kind of late so we decided just to take a cab and setup a tent to sleep in the park next to the courts so we wouldn’t miss our match.  On a side note, we lost said match 6-0, 6-1 because the ball was hard to hit.  Congrats Eric, I owe you a cocktail over Christmas at the Brew Pub.  (Or would you prefer a 40?)

Currently Reading…

This article about a bobcat roaming Missoula.  We’re on your roofs people!   (On a side note, in high school English class we made a list of 50 things we want to do before we die.  #3 on my list was to own a bobcat)

This is really intereseting…

Wow, really fun boat, tailgate and game yesterday!!  We went to Jillians afterwards because that’s right were the boat dropped us off.  Apparently the video game world has really changed since last time I played.  I asked a lady working there for change because I wanted to play a quarter.  First of all she told me that you can’t play any games for only a quarter anymore, and they don’t even take quarters at all, all games take a hotel type card that you put money on.  Uhhh okay, so I put $3.00 on a card then went to play a game, but instead of how much money the game costs it’s all in points!  So one game cost 450 points, which basically means nothing to me.  I played it once and then I was out of money!  I told them it was a problem with my card, so they put some more on, but I still had no idea if the next game was going to be all my money or if it was going to ruin my card again!  Anyway I played 2 games (1,000 points) which were both lame and then I was “out” of money because it ruined my card again (I think?) so I just quit.

This is really interesting…

Check out this “Special” exchange.  Skeelo helped Steph climb this fence after the game, which was pretty nice I suppose.  Morgan and I just decided to go 5 feet to the exit and just walk out that way instead

The soapbox…

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!!!!!!! GO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shout out to…

The new Reader of the Week….Tyler Tucker!!  Tyler is an MSU grad by way of Billings West High School (da da da da da west sucks, da da da da da, except for my Mom of course, okay moving on) who now lives in Seattle.  I recently ran into Tyler last weekend at “Market Arms”…with his Grandma who had flown into Seattle from MT to party apparently.  As Tyler said “she isn’t eating very much but she’s drinking like a fish”.  Tyler’s a good guy who just happens to hold about 5 of my favorite college stories.  As your prize I owe you 6 whiskey-cokes during power hour at the crystal sometime.

This is really interesting…

On Tuesday Steph lost the one and only key to the Jeep after driving it home and unloading groceries.  We looked for it everywhere – we traced the steps to the car about 3 times with a flashlight, cleaned the whole house, looked in the freezer, the dryer, my underwear drawer…everywhere, and no luck.  Steph then cleaned the house again and looked for it for a few more hours yesterday, but nothing.  So we figured it must have been thrown away, even though we both went through the entire trash and recycling containers previously.  So I went to Jeep yesterday and they made me a key to at least open the car to see if it was in there….which it wasn’t.  In order to drive it though we had to get the car towed up there ($$), then spend $200.00 to get a new key that would start the ignition, which they would have to order so it was going to be a multiple day process.  Devastating.  So that was the plan for today anyway, until last night I thought to myself “she put the 7-up away in the fridge”, so I looked all over in it and finally found it “chillin” in the jelly shelf of the fridge door, 3 levels up from the 7-up.  It was honestly the happiest I’ve been since winning the kickball championship.  Really got me fired up for karaoke

Current Status…

10! I made enough in tips last night for the cab ride home, I’ve got Seeley with me today and I’m currently wearing my gingerbread man costume from last year and kiddies start coming around at 3:00 for some candy.  Then tomorrow it’s the UW tailgate/game followed by a Halloween party at Murphy’s – wowzers!  Oh ya and Steph updated her blog for the first time in 2010

Shout out to…

Farnum!  You’ve been in New York for a long time.  Are you ever moving back to Seattle?

The soapbox….

Have a fun and safe Halloween weekend!  Don’t forget to have your parents check your candy for you.  And Heather, don’t forget you have to go trick-or-treating even though you don’t like candy and give it all to me…that’s the deal!!  Happy Halloween everyone!  BOOOOOOOOO!!! (they’re not booing, they’re saying boooooooooo)
