Shout out to…

The new Reader of the Week…… David “Jeff Watkins class of ’97” Fisher!! Fisher convinced me to move to Seattle to work at Auuuu-beta and statistically speaking we’re the best friends in Seattle. Fisher turns vientiocho on Monday so tell you what, you win TWO free cocktails (that I usually avoid buying for people), what a deal! Have a good weekend muchacho!

Lately I’m thinking…

What’s going on this weekend? Steph’s on vacation in Arizona so Seeley and I need some company. On a side note, steph usually takes vacations to warm and sunny places (usually beaches). I usually take vacations by driving 8 hours to western Montana to eat mackenzie river, sing karaoke, and then drive 8 hours home with a bunch of bruises.

The burrito one and miss universe one from 2 days ago are pretty good. Speaking of awkward family photos, might as well go there too, there’s a great unicyle one from 2 days ago. Wednesday must have been a good day

Shout out to…

Holzer, nice gadget update buddy, keep em coming! Also stand by with the heat, the Mariners might need some bullpen help

Current Status…

9.5 – Everyone kept talking about the Masters starting but I was confused because it’s only Wednesday…until I realized it’s Thursday! I also had two gadget updates to read the minute I booted up the computer for the day, so that was a good start. Combine that with a caramel cadbury egg and a reeses egg (i’ve had one every day since Easter) and you got yourself a mini-party

This is really interesting…

Moopie’s been really busy at work lately so we haven’t been able to get lunch, but today he was free so he said “Qdoba at 11:45”. Well when I left at about 12:15 after eating there by myself I asked him, “you didn’t happen to go to chipotle instead did you?”, to which he replied “no, I just ate at qdoba”. A minute later he then said “oh wait, which one is the new one?”. Well better luck next time I guess

This short article about Scrabble on the iPad – as the author said it would be pretty ridiculous to buy that equipment just for scrabble, but it’s a cool idea. My co-worker has an iPad – I want one, but I can’t think of anything I’d use it for, so that’s not a good sign for me ever getting one

Lately I’m thinking…

I’m not sure what’s going on here – I think joey is “arresting” me or something. I’m also not sure how much this picture has to do with baseball besides the fact it’s at the stadium, but I’m counting it.

This is really interesting…

Well after a quick start out of the game the Mariners are suddenly just a .500 baseball team. Speaking of the Mariners, who wants to catch a game this year – Joey? Jakers? Mitch? Mikey? Tanner? Nebel? okay I think you get the point. Yankees, white sox or red sox in July? Royals in August? Maybe a double dose of rangers and UW-huskers game in September? Okay i’m getting carried away

This is really interesting…

I don’t usually look at Seattle weather on my iPhone until summer because it’s just the same rain image 6 times in a row, but today i decided to check it out anyway hoping for some more unseasonably warm weather we’ve had lately. Wow – 57 and sunny today and 65 and sunny tomorrow! I got super excited, thought about which T-shirt to wear and told steph – she didn’t believe me though. So I bet her a dollar, shook her hand on it and then handed over the phone to celebrate my victory. She then flipped the screen from ‘Billings’ to ‘Seattle’, called me an idiot and asked for her dollar. cripes!!

Shout out to…

Duke (and Heather)!! That was a really good game the whole time, I think the biggest lead was 5 or 6 and that only lasted about 2 plays. Butler is a really good team – I understand that they play where Hoosiers was filmed, and don’t have anywhere near the tradition of Duke, but they were not a cindarella team in my opinion. They were ranked 2 spots behind Duke when the season began so I don’t know why people were so surprised they did well and ya they have a small school, but it’s the same size as wake forest and only 2,000 less than duke. When wake forest wins a couple games in the tourney (honestly that doesn’t happen too often) does everyone say “whoa a school with only 4,000 students won a game!” uhh no, and i’m not even sure what the size of the student body at a school has to do with how good the 10 person basketball team is, it’s not like they’re picking walk ons from people already enrolled at the school, but I feel like that’s all I heard about all week. Anyways Butler should be a top 3 pre-season team next year, and I’d vote them #1 considering they lost by 2 in the chamionship game and return almost everybody, but that probably won’t happen. On a side note, comparing this era to the one of John Wooden just isn’t going to work because it was so different, but as far as the modern era goes coach K has definitely separated himself

This is really interesting…

Mitch brought up a good point about 2 in 1 soap and shampoo – it’s great for a gym bag so you only have to pack one item. Sports!

This is really interesting…

The Mariners are on a torrid pace this year for wins. In honor I’m going to post baseball pics all week from the Ba-joe-lor party weekend. I only have about 4 from that weekend, so that should work out pretty well. And even though Sunday was technically opening day and yesterday really was opening day, we can’t go to the opening day of the Mariners until next Monday. Hopefully that gives Seattle enough time to get sunny and hot

Lately I’m thinking…

I think it’s outrageous that Oregon might have the highest paid coach in college basketball. Not north carolina, ucla, kansas or kentucky…but oregon. Will be intersting to see who they land. On a side note Mikey you’re totally right, Howard has a horrible mustache and it’s even funnier when he fouls (every 8 seconds) and gets called for one and then storms off with his mustache

The Soapbox:

Rant: I can’t believe they’re almost for sure going to expand the tournament to 96 teams. All everyone says every year is how great the tournament is and how much better than college football it is, and now they’re changing it. Actually the reason they usually give for not making football into a playoff is because the students will miss more school, and yet in basketball teams will miss somewhere around 3 extra days now and for some reason that’s not a problem. It also makes the regular season a lot less important now, St Johns went 6-12 in conference and they probably would have made it in. unc would have made it in really easily. What I’m worried about is it will resemble the nba, and players won’t play hard all year because they’re just waiting to “turn on the switch” for the tournament. I can’t imagine very many people paying to see those first couple round games in a neutral location either, I know I wouldn’t. Oh ya and filling out a 96 team bracket sounds like it will take forever…

A guy from work went on vacation for a week (during April fools day), so somebody put his nerf gun in Jell-o! hahahahha I wish it was me

Lately I’m thinking…

Does anybody use a shampoo/body wash in one? I think that’s totally crazy and I don’t think I ever would. I mean if you get used to it and then go a friends house or hotel or something, you’ll probably end up putting soap in your hair. Oh and it would basically just be like somebody saying “why use your old shampoo when this bottle will go empty twice as fast”. Um, anyways…

Shout out to…

Matt Miller (the GM who picked the team) and my teammates Sam, Woody, Gunner and Nate for winning the bonopio basketball championship on Saturday. I’m really sore and it hurts sitting down, using stairs and I think I sprained my poor little wrist, but that’s why they play the game

This is really interesting…

Click the link to see a side-by-side picture of Tony Criswell (neighbor from college) and Brad Stevens the coach from Butler. When I first left college and saw a Butler game on TV I was convinced Tony was the coach – I mean he even moved to Indiana after College and had the exact same haircut as stevens when he left. Obviously if the picture didn’t say “beat duke” it would have made the main picture today

The Soapbox:

Hope everyone had a great Easter. I got an Easter basket (thanks Steph) and had a delicious lunch so I’d say it was a smashing success. I can’t believe the person who cooks the spiral-cut ham (the MAIN dish) AND glazes it doesn’t get more respect though, but oh well, I pretty much killed it.

The new Reader of the Week…..Ollie Peterson!! You can’t tell here, but Ollie really likes the color orange – he pre-games with sparks, wears orange polo shirts virtually every day, and just yesterday told me “there’s nothing better than the orange AT&T commercial background on an HDTV”. Um okay. He also claimed at sea fair that his skin was so white it actually repels the sun. A couple hours later he was orange himself sick in bed from a severe sunburn. I was going to use a different picture of Ollie….but they were all too gay. Enjoy the notoriety tonight at the draft party and your free cocktail sometime soon!

This is really interesting…

We have the annual basketball tournament tomorrow, which more importantly means the draft party tonight. I don’t really expect to be “picked”, but more defaulted to the team that selects last considering I haven’t played since last years tournament (when I scored 4 points or .5 ppg) and I’ve since given away my basketball shoes and recently broke my foot. blade imsande for…THREE! (sorry tanner and mikey). Anyways, i’m going to make it rain. raindrops! not

Lately I’m thinking…

Only a couple months until our 10 YEAR high school reunion – wowzers. I was thinking we should probably take the B Unit from place to place, I figure without the couch I’ve got room for about….let’s say 6 more. Who’s coming with me?

Currently reading…

This article (click the link) from the Billings gazette about an 80 person bar fight. One of the things they’re doing to prevent problems like that from happening again is “requiring the bouncers to wear matching shirts”. Sounds like you can pretty much wave bar fights goodbye at that place.

Shout out to…

G’town. Yesterday we went to this super good sushi place we had never been to, then we took Seeley into the pet store to get her a treat since we didn’t bring her any food out from dinner (oh ya and a squeaking stuffed animal that she ripped to shreds in 6 minutes, good investment), and then we went to this beer and wine store we had never been to which has over 700 rotating beers, and last night just happened to be free Wednesday tasting night, so we played that game.

This is really interesting…

I can’t really put my finger on it, but this picture from Portland reminds me of a sitcom, or an advertisement or something. Like when I see it, I’m shocked that I know the people in it because this feels like a photo of something esle. Does that make any sense? okay, let’s move on

Lately I’m thinking…

Joey, having a puppy is hard, keep your head up and when she falls asleep do whatever you can to not wake her up.

This is really interesting…

Speaking of dogs and peeing, Seeley pretty much goes on demand, but last night for some reason she didn’t have to go. It’s different than when they’re puppies and they have to pee otherwise they’ll go inside, if Seeley doesn’t have to go well she’ll go tomorrow. But steph wasn’t having it, she saw it as her vs. seeley so she made us stand out there for 10 minutes. At one point seeley just layed down which is her signal she definitely doesn’t have to go. Anyways steph couldn’t believe i was just going to “let seeley win”. At one point after we came inside and I explained it’s okay and she’d go tomorrow steph just said “I want seeley to pee”. Then she looked over at her lying on her bed and said “she’s so cute, i’m going to give her a treat”…

This is really interesting…

Well turns out Steph was thinking of “dances with wolves” in her head and hadn’t seen “last of the mohicans” either, which is pretty ridiculous considering how many times she made fun of me for not seeing it. On an unrelated note, I sold my final four tickets today 😦

The Soapbox:

Montana Fun Fact of the Day: “it is illegal for married women to go fishing alone on Sundays, and illegal for unmarried women to fish alone at all.” I’ve only seen that enforced a few times though…

Husky spring football practice starts today

Lately I’m thinking…

The ncaa tournament, although I’m not sure if that’s a good thing. I was so stressed out during the Duke game that I could hear my heart pounding and there was still 14 minutes left in the game. At one point I honestly considered leaving my phone unlocked with 911 already dialed in, so that if i needed to go to the hospital I could just hit dial

This is really interesting…

Mikey, Aldrich really only played 2 years considering he played so few minutes his freshman year. When he dominated Hansbrough in the final four that was basically the first time he played in the tournament game, because I remember everyone saying “who in the heck is that tall white guy and where did he come from”. He’s a projected lotery pick so can’t blame him for leaving, although a week ago I thought it was probably a 50% chance. I won’t be rooting for Michigan State in their first matchup because I don’t like their fans remember? On a side note, i have a pretty good feeling about bobcat football this year

Currently watching…

I’m going to watch Last of the Mohicans tonight. Steph said I’ll be the last of the americans to watch that movie, but she’s never seen a single star wars movie so I guess the room she has to talk doesn’t have any vacancy

Lately I’m thinking…

Well I’ve known for years that my golf game was going downhill but Saturday was a pretty good reminder of where I was at. I lost over 1 golf ball per hole until about the 12th, so I roughly have one left. At one point there were people watching us tee off so I decided to hit my driver even though I knew for a fact I would slice it in the woods simply because I didn’t want to risk hitting my 5 wood 8 feet straight up into the air or off the toe and into their cart. I feel like with the driver I could at least hit it in the air and then act like i was shocked it sliced. Well turns out I hit it 20 yards straight left on the ground into a ravine, which I repeated exactly on the muligan shot. The one par I managed was on a closest to the pin contest so at least I didn’t lost all my money too I guess. I think I play better in flip flops, a little hung over with a road cocktail, but I guess I’ll have to settle with a sober 107 with golf shoes and a tucked in shirt. Oh ya and I’m sore

This is really interesting…

For the most part I don’t really like purchasing new items, but right now there are about 5 big ticket things I really want, like a fly rod, skis, a couple golf clubs (like that’s the problem…), and oh ya, power blinds!

Lately I’m thinking…

I can’t believe that “3D TV” is the new big thing now. I mean weren’t there 3D movies when I was like 8? I know a personal TV is a lot different than a movie theatre, but you still need to wear funny glasses. I mean it’s 20-frickin-10. If you asked me 15 years ago what we would have in 2010 I would have either said flying cars or people coming over to your house to hang out via hologram, definitely not a convenient way to watch 1983’s “jaws 3d” at home.

Shout out to…

The Klitz’s, Nebel and Holzer – it was good to be in Portland for a weekend and see everyone.

The Soapbox:

Montana Fun Fact of the Day: (btw this is the last week of MT fun facts, as I get the feeling they aren’t that fun anymore, and in today’s case, not really facts either) “The ‘Going to the Sun Road’ in Glacier Park is considered one of the most scenic drives in America. “
