This is really interesting…

Well Boyz II Men and I are basically best friends after they stopped by Amazon yesterday.  I’m thinking about making next Thursday B2M night at karaoke, hopefully they’ll be able to make it.  Otherwise after all the practice Heather and I had singing “it’s so hard to say goodbye” when we were younger I’m pretty sure I can fill in just fine.

Lately I’m thinking…

A little bummed I won’t be there for homecoming tomorrow.  Three years ago there was a foot of snow.  The last two years in addition to snow it was so cold I left at halftime (I’m not insulated for cold like I used to be…).  Tomorrow?  86 frickin degrees and sunny.  Figures.  The good news is Holzer is coming over to Portland for the MSU-psu game next weekend, and I still hope to get back for Cat-griz.  CATS!

Here is an interesting article about a “Community” actor walking on at UW.  Never knew that.  I think the summary of the article is people just try to kill walk-ons?  Thanks to Scott for the article and to Steph for the “things in a Seattle dog’s belly” article earlier this week.

Lately I’m thinking…

Don’t look now, but tomorrow is October, meaning it’s okay to put up decorations.  I don’t really have a lot going on this weekend besides watching football all day Saturday, so that seems to work out pretty darn well for everyone.  Good luck coming over to our house in October and not being scared out of your mind!  Steph even found my fog machine that Joey correctly talked me into.  Good job Steph!

The soapbox…

Anyone have plans for the UW game tomorrow?  Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!

Well here is what I’ve been working on the last 6 months (that has helped cause a slowdown in gadget updates, which won’t end for a bit…), the Kindle Fire.  It’s part of 3 new Kindles (including Kindle & Kindle touch) that were announced today during a demo by Jeff Bezos.    Sorry for the link barrage but here is a commercial and a couple more tech articles.

This is really interesting…

I took a picture of myself on Tanner’s camera at work during the wedding…but apparently that was the work camera not his camera.  He said people were passing it around at work on Monday trying to figure out who it was, and he had a “sinking feeling” as it made it’s way to him.  Then sure enough he was like “yep, that’s blade” to which someone replied “I’ve never seen anyone actually wear those wolf shirts before”

Currently Watching…

We went and saw Moneyball last night at the big picture – really good movie.  I would also recommend the white cheddar popcorn

This article about things pets have eaten.  I’m starting to think now that Seeley ate my jeep key I lost 3 years ago because I can’t find it anywhere.  Now if she ever ate Steph’s prius key we would know because the car would unlock as she walked by.  That would be pretty cool actually

Shout out to…

Bone City.  After winning our semifinal game on Thursday, we lost by one run in the championship game to steroid team in the bottom of the last inning.  This might be the end of the era, we’ll have to ask Jerry Reinsdorf that, but it’s been a great run making the championship game 5 out of 5 years with 3 titles.  Dy-nasty

Well that was almost the best football weekend of all time.  The Cats won at EWU, which is always a tough place for them to play (that red field is brutal on TV by the way), UW got a big win against Cal, the griz lost, and heck the seahawks even won.  oregon ruined the perfect sweep, but what can ya do.  Bonus fun fact:  Keith Price leads the nation in touchdown passes with 14.  Locker had 17 all of last year.

Lately I’m thinking…

How does anyone make any money at all off of sunflower seeds?  For like $1.29 you get thousands of seeds, seasoned, in a package.  That’s like .00086 cents a seed. I would have to think if they just sold the seasoning only it would be like $2.00 to package it and distribute it.  Total mind blower.  BTW I wish I could combine the BBQ seasoning of David with the seed of spitz.  But it would take forever.

Shout out to…

Brett who got his first out of college job in Bellevue.  He’ll be moving north in the next couple weeks.  Steve and Cyndi are also moving to Olympia (kind of) for a new job so this is quite the northwest shift.

The soapbox…

The hardest transition from summer to fall is the switch from flip flops to shoes.  Not only are they uncomfortable, but I feel like a (slightly taller) idiot wearing them

You know the kid who plays darth vader in the VW commercial?  Well apparently he’s from MT and his parents are big bobcat boosters, contributing a bunch of money to the new scoreboard and end zone seating.  So at the grand unveiling earlier this year they had him light up the scoreboard for the first time with the force.  Cats!  Unfortunately it looks like this year will be the first homecoming in 11 years I’ll miss.  I think next weekend is just a little too close to the 11 days of work I just took off.  So I’m looking at going for Cat-griz instead, if anyone ever hears of any tickets available please let me know!

Lately I’m thinking…

about college football mostly.  UW had some terrible calls go against them against Nebraska, and didn’t handle them very well letting the 3rd quarter get away from them – which is on them.  Big conference game this weekend against Cal (our biggest recruiting rival in my opinion and probably the most evenly matched conference team this year), with the forecast calling for sunny skies and 77 degrees!!  Basically warmer than any day this summer – I’m really excited. Throw in a bonus 30th birthday pub crawl afterward for Nate & Cam and Saturday looks, well I’m not sure the right word for it.

Currently Listening to…

The new Blind Pilot CD.  It’s every bit as good as the first

This is really interesting…

I parked the ol’ prius illegally overnight in a pay lot in Bozeman, and  wasn’t able to pick it up for 2 more days.  When I got there I was super relieved that it wasn’t towed like I kind of expected, and instead just had a parking ticket on the windshield.  I opened it up on the way back and realized it wasn’t even a ticket, just a parking warning!  0 dollars.  Put me in a better mood than if I didn’t have anything at all.

The soapbox…

Blazey’s friend bought the UW motorhome.  I basically have 0 valid excuses why I don’t own it. I blew it.

Lately I’m thinking…

I need a couple hundred dollars from all of you.  I’m serious, and thanks in advance. The RV Jake’s (first name basis) family and friends would take to the husky games is for sale on ebay starting at only $5,000.  $5,000!  Basically the steal of the century.  Anyone who doesn’t get in on this deal is basically burning money.  Mom, it has a roof and I wouldn’t have to keep it in your driveway!

Shout out to…

Bone City!  Big playoff win last night to avenge a loss in the regular season.  I’d say I kicked poor to quite poor but the team played great, and there’s no “blade didn’t get on base” in team.  Nice to be back at Leny’s for some terrible rum and cokes too.  Some tough tests to come but you can obviously never count out bone city

Currently Watching…

This awesome video of the best Chinese hurdler around – thanks Alex!  Cracks me up I’ll tell you what, I can’t get enough of it.  The fact he doesn’t even stay in his own lane is just icing on the cake.

Lately I’m thinking…

I literally can’t even handle how excited I am to go get Seeley – off to Portland after work.  It’s also Steph’s 10 year high school reunion.  I think I’m going to wear the bobcat costume.  CATS!!

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!  Go UW & Go Cats!!

I’m married.  It was such a fun week capped off by the best day of my life (Saturday, not the Thursday before, which was holding the title previously apparently) – thanks so much to everyone that made it.

Lately I’m thinking…

Zihuatenejo pretty much dominates, I’m not sure why you’d really go anywhere else on a vacation.  Unfortunately Steph thinks that’s how all vacations should be now so I’m pretty much just absolutely screwed

Currently Watching…

it’s college football season!  Between YOUR Montana State Fighting Bobcats and the UW Huskies, they took home 4 of the 6 player of the week conference honors after a pair of victories.  Went to the UW game last weekend – Steph had a blister on her toe from her flip flop so we stopped for her to put a band aid on it.  1 minute later it was a moot point as she blew the crap out of her flip flop.  I gave her mine and proceeded to enjoy the entire game (and halftime at the zone) with no shoes on.  Steph kept looking for “vendors” at the game to buy a new pair from like we were still in mexico or something.

This is really interesting…

We haven’t seen Seeley in like 3 weeks so we’re heading down to Portland on Friday to pick her up.  I’m going to get on her good size with tons of pepperoni.  Heck that might work on the whole family.  It will definitely work on me

The soapbox…

I was on the jumbo tron at the husky game Saturday.  It took me 4 seconds to realize it, and then one second to flap my arm like a bird.  I blew it

Lately I’m thinking…

So I wouldn’t say I’ve done a “good” job of updating this the last two months.  Things have been really busy both with the wedding and work.  My new goal (i.e. false promise) is to get back on a regular update schedule starting the 12th when the wedding/honeymoon is over, including resuming the Reader of the Week feature.  But as a bonus update today, how about some links!

Currently Watching…

This video on the worst “first pitches” of all time.  Personally I think #10 & #8 are really underrated.

Currently Watching…

Okay this is pretty old, but here is a pretty solid no-look fish grab by UW basketball coach Romar (who one day came up to our car and asked if we wanted to trade some pretzels for skittles or something, so I pretty much know him)

Currently Watching…

The Cats are finishing up a new end of the stadium and scoreboard as we speak , while UW is getting ready to start construction on the new Husky Stadium after the oregon game this fall.  I thought about getting a suite for next year, until I realized they cost $60,000 per year – yikes.  Guess I’m sticking with GA and airplane bottles for a while.

The soapbox…

Tomorrow’s lineup:  Happy hour.  Kickball.  Leny’s.  Glowball Golf.  St. Andrews.  Then on Saturday it’s off to Bozeman!   Have a fun and safe couple weeks everyone!!  Steph, hope to see you on the 27th

Lately I’m thinking…

wowzers, no updates for almost a month – not something I’m proud of.  Let’s see, what’s happened in the last 3 weeks…I went to Seeley Lake for a weekend, went to Vancouver Canada for a weekend, celebrated Britt and Sam’s wedding, enjoyed the first summer weekend of the year (which is now gone), and ate a lot of pizza.  It hasn’t been that long though as the Mariners haven’t won since I last updated.  Anyways, this is Adam’s limo in Seeley Lake – notice the cowboy hat and license plate – which we took to an Elk antler show out of a trailer…that thing totally dominates, although the music and flashing lights inside probably didn’t do a lot to make me feel better that morning.

This is really interesting…

I wore my white pants golfing and it started to rain.  That’s risky business right there, I’m glad it passed over quickly.

This is really interesting…

I went to text Steph “sweeeet” in response to a text and my iPhone auto-corrected it to “seedeater”, which I sent without looking.  (You’d think I’d have better material with 3 weeks to think of something…but nope).  So if you here me say “that’s seedeater”, take it as a compliment.

This is really interesting…

The other day Steph handed me a piece of chocolate but I had to sneeze.  For some reason instead of just sneezing first and then eating it I hurried and put the chocolate in my mouth (I think so I had a free hand to cover my mouth).  Anyway, that sneeze didn’t go so well.

The soapbox…

Here was a QA from the husky football chat with Bob yesterday:  Guest:  When will the Mariners win again?  Bob:  You mean in our lifetime?  Or ever?

Heading to Seeley Lake this weekend for my favorite day of the year!  LET’S GO!!!!!!!  BEEP BOP BOOP BOP

This is really interesting…

Both Tanner and Steph said they were going to use Wednesday’s inspirational bike rider video as motivation for their bike rides to and from town this weekend.  Hopefully we can avoid at least some of the incidents like this

This is really interesting…

I was burning another version of Britt’s mix for the 4th this year (because I always leave it on Tanner’s boat the year before, which as I’m writing this makes me realize I should just use the one already on the boat…but moving on) and forgot about the song names in iTunes.  Half the songs artist’s are “Tanner Keil”, and Joe renamed some like 5 years ago to things like “my friends made my girlfriend listen to crappy music” and “a crucial part of blade’s terrible collection”.  No wonder I can never remember the actual song titles when I’m at a jukebox.

This is really interesting…

(not 4th related, but outrageous enough to make today’s edition).  Slices of pizza are more at MAD pizza than at piecoras.  PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF x 100

The soapbox…

Have a fun and safe 4th of July weekend everyone!  I’ll be out Monday and Tuesday so no updates then (like you were even expecting them).

This is really interesting…

We started a new thing a couple weeks ago called Flash Camping.  Basically you just show up at someone’s house (in this case skeelo) who isn’t aware you are coming and preferable isn’t home at the time, set up shop, and camp!  We had a fire, grilled hot dogs & burgers (failed grilling pizza), ate s’mores and enjoyed some nature (long grass).  Have to say it was nice not having to drive back into Seattle the next day and nice having a gas station a block away that we could walk to 3 times throughout the night.  Be on the lookout for a flash camp near you!

Lately I’m thinking…

It’s been a long time since I’ve had an actual update.  In fact it’s been so long that since my last update, apparently including a comma after the 2nd to last item in a list is no longer acceptable (it used to be optional).  For example, “I like pizza, tacos, and chicken strips” is now “I like pizza, tacos and chicken strips”.  I’m going to have to adjust the whole way I write updates!!  How did I hear about this in the first place?   …Twitter

Shout out to…

(Wow a lot has happened since I updated in 2006) Mitch and Lisa Thompson for having their baby girl Kate, Alex and Lauren Umbdenstock for having their baby Presley, and Warren and Carriann witsoe getting married.  Wowzers!  (Anything else anyone else did probably won’t make the cut today).

This video seriously dominates.  I watch it before trying to eat foods i don’t like
