This is really interesting…

Today is the 30th anniversary of Cuatro De Matto – Miller is officially 30 years old today.  Party is 10:00 at the Ale house on Friday night.  Of course there is also the “actual birthday day” celebration tonight (little red hen?), and then tomorrow just happens to be karaoke Thursday.  Oh and Miller also hopes to see you at the Path With Art fundraiser on Saturday.  Yikes-a-roni

This is really interesting…

Well it’s spring, which means the MT advertising is back in full swing in Seattle.  On my 15 minute commute to work I have to drive by 2 giant MT billboards with sunshine and nature (and if i look close enough, I feel like I can see myself in the 4th of july parade).  Anyway, it’s usually not very helpful as I drive to the office.

This is really interesting…

Everyone was right, having a girl is more expensive – Seeley is getting a new coat everyday!  She’s not doing a very good job taking care of them either.  I came upstairs this morning and the coat she got yesterday was lying on the floor.

Currently watching…

the finale of “3 for the show” on espn – really enjoyed that whole show.  My favorite part is while Cam Newton drove away from Radio Music Hall in a decked our escalade, locker was getting picked up in his dad’s ford taurus after giving a press conference at his high school gym.

The soapbox…

Speaking of locker, I’m pretty jacked for him and UW on how everything worked out.  He was famously declared the #1 pick last year by Kiper (who also said it was “etched in stone” he would be the #1 pick this year), but chances are if he stayed in the draft last year he would have been broken down just like this year, and most people think he would have went behind bradford, probably in the 5-10 range, exactly like he went this year.  There was also a lot of concern about getting drafted with the CBA uncertainty, but really the fact it was in the in-between stage this year ended up leading to a QB frenzy in the draft since teams couldn’t trade, which helped.  But the bottom line is he came back for other reasons and won his last 4 games including a bowl win over nebraska, which is pretty sweet.  Tennessee seems like a pretty good situation for him as well, and they just so happened to always be my madden team

Lately I’m thinking…

Had a good (well, long) weekend with Paul in town.  The sounders game was super fun.  Everyone was wearing scarves in like 67 degree weather, but still fun.  A “USA” chant even broke out half-way through (and that was a day before we killed bin laden!), probably because we were playing Toronto.  On a side note, flying squirrel really comes in clutch towards the end of a night.

Lately I’m thinking…

speaking of killing bin laden, did you know Obama has a twitter page?? Seriously, his last tweet was “about to address the nation”.  Has a casual 2 million followers, so I guess a lot of people did know that.

This is really interesting…

The Path With Art fund-raising event is this weekend!!!  Should be great – best party yet.  Click here to buy tickets.  It really is a good cause, you should come.  Don’t forget to wear black and white.

Currently Watching…

Well I convinced Steph last night it was time to watch the finale of top shot.  So i went to the DVR, and clicked play on the latest item.  In a flash I thought I saw “reunion special” on it though so I went to stop it.  Seriously in 2 seconds all we saw was the very last couple seconds from the finale (because the reunion special happened right after the finale, and started recording the very last bit of the finale) and all we saw was a guy saying “i won top shot”.  Nothing after that as it finally registered my stop button.  Well, that saved us an hour I suppose.

The soapbox…

Happy 30th to Zach Benoit last weekend!

Pablo is in town for the weekend

Currently Watching…

well not yet, but you can bet your skinny jeans I’ll be watching African Cats soon!  Are you serious – could this look any better?  Steph mentioned to me she thought it was “based on a true story” as well, which makes me excited that this wasn’t just thousands of animal actors in Africa…

Lately I’m thinking…

well I took a big step back as far as updates went this week.  Work has been really busy – we recently launched Kindle in Germany and announced you’ll finally be able to check out ebooks from the library.  Also in work land, whrrl was acquired by groupon so whrrl comes to and end in 2 days.

This is not very interesting…

In the terminator movies, they said “skynet became self-aware on April 19th 2011”.  Umm I think we’re pretty far behind.  I guess they are coming out with some better 3D glasses though, so that’s cool.

The soapbox…

There has been tons of stuff on the draft and on locker, it’s all over the place, but “Three for the show” was great.  I’d probably put locker’s dad up on my friend list with Mr Gyro.

It’s been a week since I’ve updated, I was in Bozeman for 4 days, and I still don’t even have a new picture to add…so here’s one from last year.  (Joe is neither in a biker gang nor was he able to tow the car with a bike cable like he thought).  On a side note, that’s my first time using the word “nor”.  Not even sure if it’s correct or not, but I don’t care, I enjoyed it.

Shout out to…

Everyone in Bozeman last weekend.  Mikey, thanks a ton for letting us hot rod your car all over MT.  It was a busy weekend but good to see friends, family, and every single person in the Bozeman wedding industry.  BTW the “wedding walk” just involved stores on main street putting signs outside that said things like “10% off sports apparel – wedding walk” or whatever that particular store sold.  I ate it’s greek to me, mackenzie river x2, rosas, santa fe reds, ted’s mt grill, and a snickers.

This is really interesting…

Every day on the country station here in Seattle, they play the star spangled banner at noon, and the pledge of allegiance at 7:30 AM.

This is really interesting…

I was extremely tired for karaoke last night, but figured I should go anyway since it’s my job.  Well it was the most epic Thursday night of karaoke ever probably.  Whitsoe obviously killed it, and then the single best singer I’ve ever heard was just crushing songs.  Miller and I even decided to start a talent finding company half-way through.  At one point it went Bruce (local Neil Diamond legend), Whitsoe (lots of range), Shaina (all of our electronics almost exploded) back to back.  In my head I was thinking “who on earth can follow that”, and called out….”My My”, a Vietnamese man who spoke broken English and was also celebrating his 42nd birthday that night.  He got half way through his song and walked off with the applause so loud you couldn’t hear the song anymore anyway.  Then Shaina’s friend joins the party and was so good people just started submitting songs for him instead of themselves.  The entire bar at one point was dancing in front of the pool table, I thought I was in twilight zone and was afraid they were going to riot or something.  That’s when it just got even better, a lady in a full length sequin gown went up and sang the Little Mermaid song “i want to be where the people are” a cappella…complete with dramatic pauses and everything.  She later song another song a cappella, then someone else did too and it felt like they were putting me out of a job since I was just standing there, so I put an end to that.

The soapbox…

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!!!   “Walkin’ around on those(Whad’ya call ’em?) oh – feet”

This is really interesting…When I was looking at this picture on my phone I couldn’t see the chair at all.  I thought Steph was either a magic dancer or was taking the biggest spill in dance history.  Even after realizing she’s sitting on a chair here, this is a really advanced move considering how we were doing at that hour of Saturday night

Shout out to…Fish “fish” Fisher on his birthday!  Fun fact: I didn’t know “David” was his first name for about a year in high school, even though we were friends and hung out all the time.  I never even thought about it until I called his house and had to decide if it was less ridiculous asking his mom if “fish” was there, or asking for “fisher” in a house of 5 fishers.  Thanks for listening.

Lately I’m thinking…Well opening night was Awesome!  First we got to see Ichiro get presented with an award for becoming the all time Mariner hit leader, then Felix was awarded his Cy Young, then there was a great tribute for long time Mariner announcer Dave Neihaus (during which Steph basically balled her eyes out) all while the roof opened.  Unfortunately the mariners then started playing and ruined the entire day.  The place literally was half cleared out after the 45 minute 3rd inning.  People that wanted to “beat” the traffic actually ended up just staying longer waiting for it to clear up.  I mean our second baseman just decided not to play an hour before the game started for crying out loud.  We’re really bad and I was all ready to go off on them even more today…and then all of a sudden they come from 7 runs down in the 7th inning to beat the jays on a walk-off hit in the 9th last night (in front of the smallest crowd in Safeco history, and that’s when the game started, can’t imagine how many tens of people were there when we were down 7-0 in the 7th).  I think them winning that game actually made me ever more upset.

This is really interesting…(kind of, not really) this guy was walking his full grown lab the other day in south lake union, when the lab decided to just lay down in the middle of the sidewalk.  The guy tried pulling the leash, but the lab wasn’t having any of it.  You could tell he was kind of embarrassed and didn’t know what to do, standing there with the leash pulled tight and the dog just lying there, so he just decided to sit on the curb on wait it out.  When I left he was still just sitting there.  Heck he might still be there, I’m not sure

The new Reader of the Week…Blake Johnson!!  Blake used to be a lot stronger than me.  Now he does cross fit and he’s a lot lot stronger than me.  Blake lives in Seattle with his lovely wife Ali and his dog Higgins.  Higgins has always had allergies, but they just found he is allergic to….wait for it…people.  I’m not sure he’d survive in the wild, so they give him medicine so he can continue to be around people.  Blake, I owe you a pint of beer at the Beveridge Place Pub sometime in the very near future

This is really interesting…

So I just got my “end of year dividend” from REI, which basically gives you store credit for 10% of your purchases on regular priced items throughout the year.  They’re also having a 20% off one item sale, so I went in during my lunch break yesterday and made some purchases.  The problem is, I almost never buy anything full price there, so my dividend was…$5.00.  I only bought 3 pairs of socks yesterday too.  Which means after applying my $5.00 credit and taking 20% off ONE pair of socks I saved about $5.08 on one of the biggest sales of the year.

Lately I’m thinking…

Okay here’s the deal, about 15 minutes after my weather rant/monologue yesterday, the clouds broke up and it became partly sunny.  So here’s my new argument:  If it’s going to be rainy over half the day and then partly sunny the rest, you can’t just have a picture of partly sunny, it needs to be an icon with clouds, sun, and rain.  Then if at any point during the day the current weather icon isn’t somehow incorporated in the “predicted” icon then you need to update that icon.  Wait, does anyone even care about any of this?  Sorry, moving on

This is really interesting…

The other night I was kind of hungry but it was bedtime, so I took a peanut bar downstairs and just ate it in the bathroom where I was waiting to brush my teeth for bed.  It felt like I was trying to hide something, but I wasn’t

This is really interesting…

Lately finding a picture for the gadget/blog has been the hardest part about updating it.  If i don’t have a picture I don’t know where to start and that usually isn’t a very good sign for an update that day, so Steph suggested when I don’t have one to do a ‘throwback’ photo to the entry on this day last year.  Well here you go, a picture of Joe arresting me at a baseball game last year.  I also realized that I plan on talking about the exact same stuff I did a year ago – basically weather and baseball.  Which mostly means if you’ve read one of these udpates, you’ve read them all, so that’s great…

This is really interesting…

So it turns out the same weekend we’re going to Bozeman to do a bunch of wedding stuff, they’re having their yearly wedding show.  That works out well considering we didn’t plan that – should also note this sounds like a girls type thing to me.  Hello Specs

Lately I’m thinking…

It’s said all week that today was supposed to be partly sunny today and I was incredibly excited because it’s been raining for weeks.  So I woke up in a good mood, checked my phone and sure enough it still said partly sunny/partly cloudy.  Told Steph it was sunny today, walked upstairs and it was…pouring.  Figured it would pass but it’s still raining 7 hours later.  They did update the icon since then from partly sunny to just cloudy…I mean predicting weather is one thing, but when you’re looking at today shouldn’t the “forecast” just be what’s going on right now?  I mean the “current” icon says rain but they’re still sticking to their guns and forecasting just clouds.  It’s also freezing outside btw.  If tomorrow isn’t 57 and sunny like it says I’m going to seriously lose it.

This is really interesting…

It’s Thursday – same karaoke time, same karaoke place.  Hope to see you there!  Also for anyone heading to opening day tomorrow let me know what your plans are and maybe we can meet up!  I think I’m just planning on going to pyramid if it’s sunny outside (again, that’s just according to the frickin WEATHER FORECAST FOR ONE DAY AWAY so who knows if it will be)

Steph and I are heading to Bozeman in 8 days.  We have some wedding stuff to do, but mostly just to eat Rosas & Mackenzie River I believe.

Lately I’m thinking…

Really fun weekend – Birthday party in Ballard Friday night and a Birthday party at the duchess Saturday night, with a little scavenger hunt for Molly’s engagement in between (which we won, obvs).  What wasn’t that fun was Saturday night at about 4:00 AM our smoke alarm located 1900 feet up towards the top of the ceiling started beeping to tell us our battery was low.  I was able to ignore it for the most part and sleep, but ol’ Seeley the dog didn’t like it too much, so she compensated by running downstairs and taking up 96% of the bed.  So I’d say all in all it was a really good night’s sleep….

This is really interesting…

I’m in the middle of a pretty solid/delicious stretch of meals, dating back to Friday night – might as well go through them!  Stacias pizza, Mr. Gyro, Pizza Ragazzi, Piecoras, Homemade pizza, MOD pizza, Homemade Tacos.  I’m probably going to blow it at lunch today though.

Currently Watching…

So ya, that was the worst championship game of all time probably.  What I don’t agree with is the people now saying “see the BCS isn’t that bad blah blah blah”.  If there was the BCS in basketball, we would have had Ohio State and Kansas playing, two teams that didn’t even…wait, crap, that’s exactly the match-up I wanted to see.  Well anyway, it’s not like Bama-texas, lsu-ohio state, florida-ohio state, or usc-oklahoma were anywhere close to great games.  But wow, butler could not make a shot to save their life.  Pretty sure the first thing to touch their nets were the uconn scissors.

The new Reader of the Week…Annie Arbenz!!  Annie is a UW grad and was a member in Steph’s sorority, alpha mamma jamma.  She loves disney, mini coopers, and owns a dog with her husband Casey.  She is also really into a book series about troll princesses!  April Fools!  No wait, actually that’s not a joke, I’m serious.  I owe you one beer in a mini glass tonight, congrats!

This is really interesting…

The Mariner’s ‘opening day’ isn’t until next Friday!  That’s probably the latest opening day in sports history.  They didn’t even get a road opening day yesterday, they had to wait until today.  At first I felt like we got a bum deal, but then I realized it’s been cold and frickin pouring the last 2 days.  So here’s to hoping it’s 75 and sunny by next Friday

Currently Watching…

Top Chef and Top Shot. Both top “sh” sounding shows that are spelled differently.  I’m an idiot

This is really interesting…

So I’ve had this gift certificate thing to Moshi Moshi sushi for like a year.  I’ve been trying to convince Steph to go there that whole time, but she’s always like “no, i don’t want to go there”, “no, gross”, or “go with someone else”.  Keep in mind she had never been there, or even really knew what it was.  Anyway we went there to meet some friends the other day, and she ended up seeing a bunch of her sorority ‘sisters’ there.  Of course by then she loved it, and wanted to go back.  On a side note, I’m shopping for nerf work guns today

This is really interesting…

I ate at portage bay for lunch yesterday, and I’ve always got the burger there before but decided to go with the ol’ salmon lunch special instead (i know, crazy).  It came with polenta, and I’ve never known what that was, I just hear it all the time on Top Chef and it sounds really official.  Anyway, moral of the story is I didn’t like it and will never eat it again.

This is really interesting…

(yes i know) I later told Steph the salmon was super organic and grass fed.  She thought that was great, and didn’t get my joke until I explicitly asked “how much grass do you think Salmon eat?”  Then I at least think she got it

Lately I’m thinking…

Okay moving on from all my sweet (pardon the pun) food stories.  Looking back at the final score of the Kansas game, I’m surprised they ended up with 0 points, I really don’t remember them making any.  Here are the most annoying things about that game, in no particular order:  VCU couldn’t miss from 3, they made more in the first half then they averaged all season.  The only thing that could have been more annoying is if they started shooting 3 point hook shots.  Kansas on the other hand couldn’t make a 3 to save their life – they shot 9% from beyond the arc.  Scooting up didn’t help them much, as they shot about 50% from the FT line, and I’m pretty sure the ones that bounced in were on accident.  Markieff frickin Morris set the 2011 tourney game record for turnovers 1 minute into the 2nd half with 8.  It’s like, hold on to the frickin ball!!  Anyway vcu OBVIOUSLY played better and deserved to win…i guess.  I’m not even sure if I’m watching any more of the tournament though – nobody likes uconn, everyone hates ketucky, butler is cool i guess, and vcu can go play out of their mind somewhere else.  The husky football blog is really starting to pick up anyway

The soapbox…

“I love poetry, and a glass of scotch, and, of course, my friend Baxter here.”
