This is really interesting…

It’s my last day at Whrrl (Pelago).  Kind of bittersweet, I’m sad to leave…but also pretty excited to have the next 3 days off.  Could use a little beach club weather cooperation though!  Start at Amazon on Tuesday.

This is really interesting…

Ryan and I went to pull in a crap pot last weekend and discovered we’d caught the biggest starfish of all time.  It was probably worth millions of dollars but we both just started screaming and threw the whole pot back in the water.  I think it tried to bite me.  Anyways, don’t go swimming in the sound, you’re not safe

Currently Reading…

This article from Missoula talking about how all the smartest kids in MT go to Montana State.  Obviously.  Thanks for the submission Mitch.  On a side note, CATS!!

Shout out to…

The Matts (Miller and Moopie) for a great meat place run for lunch.  I started and ended the meal with some parmasean pork, which will probably never happen again, and we just talked UW football the entire time in between.  Combine that with the best seat in the house and a friendly staff and you have my best meat place run to date.  Thought I felt pretty good afterwards compared to normal too, until I started walking up the hill.  I think I’ll have A saltine cracker for dinner

The soapbox…

Supposed to be much warmer at the gorge this weekend compared to last year.  Muy Bueno

This is really interesting…

Joey and I just put down about 19 pieces of village inn – turns out you now get a free pop with a buffet too – wowzers! (btw this is a picture from the Internet, it’s not snowing here, although I could actually go for some snow if it meant blue skies)

Currently watching…

that umpire from last night ruin everyone’s day – even the guy who got on base looked devastated. That’s one of the reasons why I just never swung at the ball (unless it was a pitching machine) in baseball, mostly only bad things can happen

Shout out to…

Steph and Seeley the Dog – miss you guys already.

This is really interesting…

It just started raining here – can’t a guy get a break? I’ve got an outdoor party and a BBQ to go to here people

The Soapbox:

sat next to a fat guy on the plane…shocker. In front of me was a guy in an MSU hat and a guy in a um hat. I was hoping they would throw down but they didn’t even talk. I guess i wouldn’t talk to a guy in a griz hat either – CATS!

Shout out to…

The new Reader of the Week…..Molly Kolpin!! Here’s a picture of Molly from the 80s. She’s on the path with art committee and with the party coming up tomorrow I figured she would be the big winner. Unfortuntately I owe a lot of people drinks tomorrow night, so your free drink is elegible starting sunday morning at 10:00 AM. Molly also enjoys kickball and getting kicked out of seahawk games. Thanks for reading and have a great day!

Current Status…

10! Chai-day Friday, nate and shana come into town today, holzer tomorrow, and Seeley the Dog comes home! I hope she even remembers who I am. if not I’m just going to give her lots of treats until she likes me again. NATURE

Current Status…

Update: probably actually a 9.8. I just remembered that as a celebration lunch for finishing an iphone app update we’re going out to lunch at …..a vietnamese place. I checked their menu, and they have 4 different sections of pho. That’s it. I guess a pizza party would have been too obvious a choice!!?

Lately I’m thinking…

CATS!

Shout out to…

The Valentines Day edition Reader Of the Week….Stephanie Klitz!!! Steph puts up with my eating habits, sits through at least one SportsCenter a day, and spoils the dickens out of Seeley the Dog, all of which make me happy. Steph deserves to win Reader Of The Week every day, but that wouldn’t make sense simply by definition. She’s winning her free cocktail during her training stretch when she’s not really drinking, but maybe she’ll be able to enjoy it after the Snow Joke. A cocktail would be a lot more appropriate than whatever Katie has by the bottle in her trunk anyway.

This is really interesting…

I got my final four tickets in the mail the other day – they’re pretty darn official looking. I honestly don’t know what to do with them right now – just wait and see who’s in the final four I guess? I was also hoping that UW would be in the first round games in spokane, but their inability to win a road game means they’re not going to be in the tourney unless they win the pac-10 tournament. Latest bracketology does have texas and tennessee there though. I predict lots and lots of side bets, and I’m excited

Lately I’m thinking…

Heather I came up with a new rule – from now on you have to tell me BEFORE you have heart surgery – wait scratch that, let’s just say any surgery – not just after. Glad everything’s okay though and that you got a pre-surgery duke win.

This is really interesting…

I did my taxes last night. That’s probably the last time I do them by myself. I felt like I was kind of just winging it in sections. If it was a test in college or something, I’d probably walk away knowing that I passed, but not that confident in some of my answers

The Soapbox:

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!! I’ll bet you twenty bucks I can get you gambling before the end of the day. I’ll give you 3 to 1 odds.  YOUR Montana State Fighting Bobcats are a pick in streak for the cash on espn today

This is really interesting…

This is what I wore for Whirly Ball Saturday night – it seems like you just don’t see a lot of people wear a mascot costume (bobcats) with a different team’s jersey (kansas) over it anymore. Anyways when we got there there (crap there x2) were only about 12 people there we didn’t know, and one guy had a griz coat on! I walked up and said “griz coat huh, do you know I root for?” He said “no”, and then I calmy pulled my jersey aside to show him my 3 “Go Cats!” stickers on my suit. He started laughing and then a guy came over with a Montana State sweatshirt and pointed and laughed at him. Anyways, moral of the story is out of about 30 people at Whirly Ball in Edmonds, WA there was a griz guy, a CATS guy, and a guy wearing a CATS costume (me).

unc completely nose dive this season. They kind of remind me of when Kansas won the national championship and then lost 4 guys to the NBA and had to rebuild. Oh wait, I guess they don’t – Kansas won the Big 12 the next year. Oh ya and Kansas lost 5 guys to the nba, not 4. Anways, pretty big game at Texas tonight for those of you looking for something to watch before the Bachelor starts.

Sticking with the sports theme a little bit, I think someone needs to write a manual about when it’s appropriate for fans to rush the court. I feel like it used to happen a couple times a year or something, but now seems to happen a couple times a week. When i see something like #18 Michigan Tech rush the court after beating #14 Minnesota State I feel like calling the school AD and then hanging up or something.

This is really interesting…

I woke up Saturday morning knowing that I needed to take Seeley to the dog park. I decided one way to start the day off right would be to break out the cocoa-motion. So I walked upstairs hoping for a cold day and it was already about 48 and sunny. I figured that was still cold enough though and fired her up. When it was done I poured it in Steph’s aluminum UW bottle, but I dont’ think that’s meant for hot things because it made the bottle too hot to hold, I had to carry it by the lid. So basically I couldn’t drink it until it cooled down because you can’t hold it by the lid to drink when you have to take the lid off – so about 10 minutes later at the park i finally decided to give it a go. Unfortunately a muddy pit bull with apparently no training jumped on my lap and licked opening of the bottle. I was about 93% sure I wasn’t going to drink of out it anymore when he knocked the whole bottle into the mud and seeled the deal. Better luck next time I suppose. (It was still fun watching the cocoa-motion mix the milk and cocoa mix using magnetic waves and shut off at the perfect temperature of course)

Lately I’m thinking…

Following the late-breaking news that I won’t be running in the Snow Joke half-marathon this year due to injury, I would like to officially confirm Steph and I’s attendance. See you guys there?? The only thing I can think of that’s better than running in the Snow Joke, is not running the Snow Joke. This is the official sign to direct you to the race. I know it looks official enough, but keep in mind it’s resting against a 3 feet tall mini stop sign meant for snowmobiles or people walking i suppose, not cars. See the soapbox for a round of race day instructions from the website, just like last year.

This is really interesting…

So i’ve read and heard about how intense and fired up Nick Holt is (the UW defensive coordinator) but I had no idea until I saw him last night. Up for live auction was Nick joining you and a couple friends for beers at the Duchess (pretty cool item). The bidding was up to $1,000 (when you could go drink there by yourself for like 9 dollars) when Nick grabbed the Mic and yelled “We’re not going to be Nebraska’s ass for less than $1500”. He then intimated 3 different guys into bidding $4,000 each! Looks like Nick’s going on a bender, because they sold different nights to two different guys for 4,000, and to one guy for $4,250. Sounds like the last guy got screwed in the deal if you ask me

Lately I’m thinking…

Mikey, the signing day function was really fun. UW signed a top 20 class which included the 2 leading rushers in all of california and the “hardest hitting” safety in California, i.e. the exact opposite of me. On a side note, i think the CATS are going to beat the grazzlies next year

Lately I’m thinking…

“Ya, well it must be pretty easy to win, when you NEVER MOVE YOUR BACK ROW!”

The Soapbox:

“You may list your dog as a participant for $1.00 when you pay your fee. Do not fill out an application for your dog”. “Due to our race-day registration policy, we take reservations for T-shirts”. “We can’t eat unsold shirts”. “Duplicate reservations are discouraged”. “The entire course is open to vehicular traffic during the Event.”. “Do not cross the Finish Line twice” “E-mail is the preferred method of reserving shirts. You may leave a message on the Race Director’s phone – his answering machine might be working. Try him in the evening if you want to talk to him.” Snow Joke!

Shout out to…

Heather on her Birthday..day (seen here in a helmet apparently in her own fantasy world). Heather is really smart and talented basically because I taught her everything. Unfortunately Heather has already been reader of the week, and I can’t give it to her twice before Steph has even it once or I’ll be in big trouble, so Reader of The Week will resume next Friday. Have a fun weekend Heather, see you in May for graduation (the plane tickets are non-refundable, so don’t blow it)

Wow, GREAT early morning round of gadgets, what a great day. Hard to believe stalwart (first time word usage, not even sure if it applies) Joey is the only one who hasn’t updated yet. Maybe he put so much stuff in the soapbox yesterday that him and his computer just blew up? I like this line from Nebel’s about the MSU game being played in pullman: “WSU is lame on a number of different levels. Ryan Leaf being at the top of the list. Having the game in Pullman just adds to their already shitty mystique.” I can’t read it without laughing

This is really interesting…

Steph and I went to grab a bite to eat last night (her phone misteriously died when I was going to have her pick up piecoras) and I figured I’d enjoy a nice rum and coke with the meal. The first time they brought it out I’m pretty sure it was tequilla-coke, so I had her try it again. The next time it came out it was Malibu-coke, which i guess despite their best efforts to screw up is at least a kind of rum. Anyways it was terrible and Steph just made fun of me the whole time.

This is really interesting…

I put a Montana State Bobcats sticker in the back window of the Jeep last week, only the window is so tinted and dirty that you can’t see if from outside. You can however see how crooked it is from inside, which is really distracting and annoying. Maybe I should just get a FTG license plate and call it a day? Or does Maddie already have washington rights on that as well? I’m just excited for bobby hauck to be cruising around Vegas one day and see Maddie in his jeep

The Soapbox:

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!! Hopefully I can stop talking about this soon, but still no idea what’s going on with my foot. I called Swedish and made them send X-ray results to my doctor, since they couldn’t tell me what they were, then called my doctor who conveniently only works M-W. So the receptionist tried giving me the results, which i’m not even sure is legal. This is how it went: “Uh it says you have a crack in the meta-tri-carpel-tunnel-osmosis-quadra-lat-rotary-girter….and I don’t know what that means”. Anyways I might have to go to a specialist on Monday. I’m basically just co-paying anyone in the greater Seattle area who wants to take a “crack” at telling me what’s wrong

As Mikey mentioned, sounds like the MSU-wsu game is going to be played in pullman after all instead of qwest field. Maybe a road trip to pullman was necessary anyway? At least it’s closer for you MT folks, although it’s 284 more miles for me. Is Tanner going? He doesn’t have the best of luck on CAT roadtrips, and I’d hate to fall in with the wrong crowd

Ali, my early season pick to win the Bachelor this year. She’s probably too obvious of a choice to win, but right now I can’t really see Jake marrying any of the other crazy girls. Lucky Ali got to have a private concert from Chicago last night, complete with rip roaring guitar solos and everything. Let’s slow dance!

This email that was sent in by a former employee. He was fired right when I started, probably for odd behavior. He at one point was fired and sued by Microsoft for violating a NDA, was turned in as a suspect after a suspicious bag was found at greenlake and had to be destroyed, and has a history of getting drunk and emailing in innapropriate comments. Turns out it all might have an explanation though-see the soapbox to read it.

Joey, we saw the Blind Side over Christmas, it’s super good. My grandpa has a hard time staying focused/awake at movies, but when we left he said “I can’t remember ever seeing a better movie”. That’s the equivalent of over 400 thumbs up

This is really interesting…

wazzu plays a game in seattle because there is a large # alumn/fans in Seattle that will pay to see a game here as opposed to driving to pullman. It probably also helps with recruiting exposure too. They do a bball game here at Key arena once a year too. The fact that the Montana State might be one of the games to be played here is pretty darn convenient. CATS!

“Hi Joni! This is me, Robby! I just want to apologize. I heard through the grapevine that I might have said something inappropriate to you about a year ago. I was SO stoned that day. In fact, there was a week where I don’t remember anything. I was hanging out with this guy named Oklahoma Mike, and I was taking some drugs. Thankfully, I got off my drug kick, and now I am as dorky as can be. am still single, but I feel very good about the future”

Lately I’m thinking…

That was a lame national championship game. I wasn’t that excited about it in the first place, but then Colt McCoy went down and I was suddenly upset that the Office and 30 Rock were re-runs. Texas dominated most of the 1st quarter and yet when it was over they were down 7-6, meaning unless Alabama somehow scored -1 points the game was pretty much over. McElroy has to be the worst QB to win a title in recent memory – whenever alabama got tired of running for first downs they’d call a pass play, but he would just sit back there pump faking until he got sacked. He only completed 6 passes the whole game! At least he had less interceptions than the alabama punter though

Lately I’m thinking…

On a football related note, don’t forget your Montana State Fighting Bobcats play wazzu next year. Who’s coming with me? Everybody!
