Lately I’m thinking…

I’m off to Seeley Lake tomorrow so this is the last update of the week. We were thinking about flying into Seeley Lake but weren’t sure what “gate” we would arrive at. Oh ya and we didn’t want to land on any deer, so I guess we’re driving. I’m looking to beat my half marathon time last year of 2 hours by running in it 0 minutes. See you at the Filling Station

I almost forgot about table top week, click here for the highly unnecessary Wedding Top

I went and met Jake Whittenberg for a beer last night – he’s from Billings and was my next door neighbor in the dorms. He’s moving here to be a reporter for King 5 news, which should make the news much more entertaining to watch. “You stay classy, San Diego. I’m Ron Burgundy?”

This is really interesting…

A co-worker just came up to my desk to ask me a question, and commented on how organized my nerf darts were. I then went to look for a piece of paper for him and couldn’t find it anywhere, because turns out that “stuff” is super UN-organized. oh well

The Soapbox:

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone! “Oh, I can reserve you a flight coming *back* from Chicago at 5:55. Does that help? “

I don’t have a lot of material today, but let’s go! Not sure that this is a traditional table top picture, but it did involve 2 people up to no good (jakers and tanner) knocking some people over and then pointing and laughing at them. Click here for the before picture, including my brand new drink I had made seconds before. Oh ya, and you can also see Jakers up to no good! (sorry if you’ve already seen these pictures)

The Kansas game and women tell all on the bachelor – both were pretty boring compared to normal, although it was good to hear from Ali. Kansas now has a 58 game home win streak – do you know how ridiculous that is? It was over 3 years ago! Sienna is 2nd place with 34 and the closest school from a major conference is Duke/Kentucky with 17

This is really interesting…

Speaking of the NCAA, Mikey got our first round tickets in the mail yesterday and I also became a UW football season ticket holder. Now if only I could actually go back to college

This is really interesting…

I bought an electrc sander this weekend and sanded our gate down so that it swings freely without kind of getting stuck when opening and closing it. Our neighbors was way worse than ours, so I spent a lot of time and sandpaper working on his as well. Anyways, in front of our house we each have a patch of grass about big enough for a coffin each (bad example?). Well yesterday he mowed his 3 x 6 piece of grass…and didn’t mow ours. I think it actually makes his side look worse being next to a little patch of not mowed grass. very strange. Oh and I obviously don’t have a lawn mower for a patch of grass that size – i’m not even sure what he used. Maybe I’ll just let seeley eat a little bit of it each day and throw it up, since she seems to like to do that on walks

The Soapbox:

Apparently there’s a hard rock cafe by pike’s place now. A cool 95 minutes later I’m back in the office – let’s just say the whole process wasn’t as fast as say picking up jimmy johns or something. I did get to see the “pretty fly for a white guy” video though, and was reminded just how good of album Foreigners greatest hits was. Holzer, how about some Juke Box Hero to get ready to go out??

Lately I’m thinking…

The 2PM Georgetown pub crawl was obviously a disaster. Everyone was in bed by 10:00 PM (me by 8:00 PM), and then everyone woke up at 3:00 AM and thought it was morning. That just meant I was hung over twice after one session of drinking, once at 3:00 AM and once when I woke up again at 8:00 AM. That’s about all i have to say about that

This is really interesting…

GREAT news on the training front – I ran 6 miles on Saturday with Seeley who easily did her best job running of all time. And now the DEVASTATING news on the training front – i’m going in for x-rays tomorrow on my foot because I can barely walk – snow joke

This is really interesting…

Steph got a new shirt, and if you’ve seen her anytime in the last 7 days, then you’ve seen it.

Saw the last “Tonight Show with Conan O’brien” on Friday. First of all, he’s frickin hilarious. Second of all, NBC jacked this whole thing up so bad. I haven’t really read anything about it, but from what I can tell it seems like NBC paid 44 million to terminate Conan’s contract early, they now no longer have him on their network, he can go to a rival network in 7 months, and they don’t have a host for the tonight show. And this is all to help Leno’s ratings on a show they shouldn’t even have and nobody watches?

The Soapbox:

No more 360 degree sky-fives gone wrong until my foot is better. Nice mustache Brice

Shout out to…

The Reader of the Week…..Ladies and gentlemen….Tanner Keil! Nebel, Mikey or Demaris would announce that on the mic every time Tanner walked into the Legion – classic. It also happens to be Tanner’s bday tomorrow, so don’t forget to call him at midnight tonight just to say hello. Tanner rarely, if ever, makes good decisions, but I think he’s actually tricked himself into believing that he’s going to turn the corner any day now. I’ll give you your free cocktail after Snow Joke, courtesy of the Filling Station – that’s just a little more incentive for me to actually finish the race. Happy Bday!!

This video a player (Sylvester) on the UW football team made in high school. A lot of you don’t know who he is, and it’s kind of hard to understand what he’s saying, but the hits are just hilarious. There’s no way that nobody got hurt making it.

This is really interesting…

Steph and I were going to go this Belgianfest beer tasting thing with our neighbors tomorrow, but the tickets are sold out! But since we were already planning on a few beers during the day, we just decided to do our own Georgetown pub crawl at 12:00 PM…why not? who’s coming with us?

This is really interesting…

I went to an exhibit at the Frye Art Museum last night for a Path with Art event and then heard a local artist (Faye Jones) give a lecture about her work and process. The moral of the story (besides me being educated, well cultured, and kind of a big deal) is Heather, I want you to draw me a lot more pictures. Thanks in advance!!

The Soapbox:

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!! I’m going to try and run 5 miles tomorrow. I went to Piecoras last night and after I put parmesan on my slices the wait came over, starred at it, and then said “uhh was that intentional?”

Shout out to…

The first Reader of the Week in 2010….Joseph Soueidi! Joey and I went to every school together since we were one year old, which includes the school of hard knocks. We actually have this same picture of us when we were 2. Joe has adult braces but should be getting them off soon. I figured since you have Monday off i would go ahead and make this the best weekend of your life by featuring you today. Sorry you didn’t win before Christmas which would have given me lots of time to buy you a cocktail, but thanks for all the Ronrico and Mr Boston rum. Click here to see a photo that shows we’re more than just tough guys. Go America!

10 easily! I was kind of hung over this morning (thanks AJ and Miller) but all of a sudden got really hyper and felt great! Now I’m off to MOD pizza and then dinner tonight with miss Stephanie

Currently reading…

The husky football blog – i made my first comment on it yesterday and skeelo saw it. On the Internet! I’m really glad Sark is staying. I’m also excited that Lane Kiffen is in the Pac-10. Here was a quote the LA times got from an anonymous assistant during the early Pete Carroll years: “Chow schemed plays, Sark developed quarterbacks, and Lane got the coffee”

Shout out to…

(kind of) Britt Hesse who told me about groupon.com. Basically they email you a deal every day. It started out promising with a pizza deal, but since then the two offers have been “50% off Electrolysis” and “Up to 57% off Trapeze Class”. It’s the “Up to” part that concerns me, as those deals always turn out to be way less

The Soapbox:

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone! Couple quick hitters: Went to the UW game last night and it was a dunk fest. I’m never going in Seeley Lake again without pants and shoes. I’ve ran 3 miles since my last half marathon and I was sore for 3 days. The next half marathon is in a month. Instead of “running” it I might try instead to set the MT state record for fastest time driving a half marathon.  Holzer our reunion is June 4th!

This is really interesting…

I went from about 1% to 15% on doing the Snow-Joke this year. Once I started typing my master plan out I realized it was a great, foolproof plan. Basically if I do it, I’m going to shoot for a worse time than last year so I don’t feel like I have to improve on it. I’m also not going to really train, that way I still get a Seeley Lake trip out of it but without ruining all the weekends leading up to it by exercising. Brilliant! So i guess i’m training right now, just by considering it.  I’ll have more info on that later.

Speaking of Seeley Lake, I finally put together a slide show on Whrrl of our nature trip….from about 4 months ago. Click here to see it. nature. On a seeley lake side note, that schnabble guy seems like one of the biggest idiots on the planet

Shout out to…

Dre on her birthday! I’m looking forward to the Dre & Steph birthday bash at Kells coming up soon. Happy Birthday smelly pants

Lately I’m thinking…

Short week so reader of the week will be announced tomorrow! Buckle up. Also UW really better dominate the apple cup this weekend, check the soapbox for some 2009 wazzu stats – nothing personal wazzu fans – they’re just some crazy numbers.

The Soapbox:

So obviously wazzu isn’t having a very good year, but some of these stats are simply stunning: they’ve been outscored 173-6 in the first quarter. Oregon returned an interception against them 24 yards – the leading receiver for wazzu had 12 yards. Oregon got 4 1st downs going for it on 4th down against wazzu – wazzu had 4 first downs total. the wazzu punter rushed for 15 yards on a fake against against ASU. the rest of the team had -39 yards rushing. Against UCLA, 2 of the 4 leading recievers from the wazzu QB played for ucla. arizona had 0 punts and 0 turnovers the entire game – arizona fumbled or punted on their first 10 possessions. wazzu has never led in regulation, but managed to win a game in overtime.

Lately I’m thinking…

This picture (like tanner’s gadget) doesn’t have anything to do with this weekend. It’s a puzzle with deers on it that’s shaped like a deer from tanner’s cabin in seeley lake.

Current Status…

7.2? I’m tired. I didn’t feel like it was safe for me to drive home from portland until about 5:00 last night, but that meant i had to drive in the dark with the back window open because Seeley the dog owns me.

Lately I’m thinking…

I’d love to talk about the trip/game starting tomorrow, but i will say i had an awesome time and thanks to everyone who made the trip. Also thanks to the Klitz’s for hosting everyone!

This is really interesting…

So yesterday when I was leaving I was hungry and decided to get fast food for the car trip. We go to the same burger king almost everytime back from portland, but as i was taking the exit i decided to try taco bell instead. This was completely radical because A) I’ve never once eaten taco bell in the car as a road trip food and B) I’ve only had good taco bell once since moving to seattle, and that was actually in some town on the way back from Crystal Mountain. I don’t know what it is about the seattle ones, but they suck at making tacos. Anyways I ordered my 4 tacos without lettuce and as i left the drive through line randomly grabbed one and starting eating it. DELICIOUS! I couldn’t believe it, i honestly felt like pulling over on the freeway and texting people, i was so happy. I mean after 3 years i got a well made taco. Then i went to grab taco #2 and, WHAT, it was a taco supreme or something with sour cream. So i went for taco #3 and it was a normal taco but with lettuce. Panicked i went for #4 and…there was no #4. What kind of jacked up order did i get? 1 was right and none of them were the same? (sorry this is long). Anyway i actually decided to push my “luck” to the max and went to taco bell again 30 miles later and what do you know – DELICOUS & CORRECT! i have more but i’m going to stop

The Soapbox:

sorry. CATS!

Lately I’m thinking…

Goodbye summer, hello fall/rain. nature

Lately I’m thinking…

Here’s my summary/thoughts of college football last weekend. Oh that’s right I forgot, I don’t want to talk about it. At least the MSU-psu game is in 2 weeks, and by then we should be able to field a kicker. the oregon-usc game should be fun to watch too, especially if i’m sitting in my halloween costume enjoying a few cocktails while enjoying a stress free day of a UW bye.

This is really interesting…

I “went to bed” at 7:30 PM Saturday night….

Shout out to…

The Klitz’s for a fun weekend and dinner at via tribunali saturday night. I think overall we were better behaved there than last time, although the waitress did immediately say she remembered us from last time, which is usually a pretty good sign.

The Soapbox:

Hey at least the gadget can’t be any worse tomorrow….right?

(disclaimer this picture is from like 3 weeks ago…stay with me) Joe and I were down in the 3rd and deciding ladder ball game, so we decided to have a discussion in the “circle of trust” to discuss it. First of all, I think the circle of trust was too small. Second of all, notice in this picture you can see that I have a full drink, and Jakers is in the background up to mischief about ready to pull the hose. Click here to see what happened. Oh and don’t worry, the good guys won the game in a thriller.

Currently watching…

Great lineup last night – I turned on the angels game just to watch the yankees score 6 in a row, which unecessarily stressed me out. So i switched to the football game to see stupid unc beating florida state by 3 scores (that also probably shouldn’t bother me, but it did). Well by the end of the night the angels one, florida state won, the office was actually funny and 30 rock was good. BEEP BOP BOOP

Shout out to…

Mr Gyro. When I went in I was worried they would have forgot my name and my order since i hadn’t been there for months. Sammy looked at me, paused for a minute and then said, “Blade, I was going to pretend like i didn’t know you since you haven’t come in for so long, but I couldn’t do it. You having the regular?” I seriously started fist pumping. I then asked him about the signed Carleson picture he had (seahawks tight end) and he said he comes in there all the time and is kind of taking my spot, he also wondered why he never sees me at kells anymore. Well listen up people – i’m not too old to go to kells and i’m definitely not going to be replaced at Mr Gyro by a profesional football player. I’m making a come back! Watch out!

This is really interesting…

I’m super excited/anxious about the washington/oregon football game tomorrow. I’m predicting a husky upset though at home over a heavily favored oregon team. On a side note i’ve spent the last 2 days trying to figure out if hate oregon or the university of montana more. I think it’s a crappy toss up really. On another side note the whole klitz family is coming tonight so i’m pretty excited about that.

The Soapbox:

Quick Notes: Go Huskies and Go Cats! My next 3 Saturdays are: oregon/husky game, halloween, montana state portland trip! Buri showed me this random guys bio page and his quote on it was “For me, food is like gasoline. I don’t like stopping to fill up the tank, but I do it to keep the engine running” Uh….okay pyshco. Steph saw sark at the uw bookstore today. SEE YOU AT THE TAILGATES! Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!!
