Lately I’m thinking…

It’s hot.  We set records Saturday and Sunday.  I like it hot outside, I don’t like it hot inside, and neither does Seeley.  I want air conditioning in a glass box I can sit in outside and get tan

This is really interesting…

wow what a weekend.  whiffle ball from about 10:00 AM to 4:00PM, including 2 icings by about 10:30, then out to Kells to close that little place down, followed by some boating action yesterday.  sports

This is really interesting…

the loft is the hottest part of our house, so we decided to watch a movie yesterday on the computer downstairs.  Steph was complaining she couldn’t really hear the volume though, so I un-hooked the speakers from upstairs and installed them downstairs.  Then about 2 minutes into the movie someone finally talked and we realized the whole things was going to be in sub-titles…

This is really intersting…

I’m starting a new job at Amazon next month

Shout out to…

The new Reader of the week….Matt Moopie Morgan!!  Great game in kickball last night, it’s a luxury to be able to rotate 2 all stars at the 3rd base position. I think it’s safe to say Moopie likes tailgating, beer and bacon.  Not really sure how he’d order those though.  I owe you a tall can of busch light.  (and just to reiterate, moopie is seriously really good at tailgating)

Shout out to…

Bone City!!!  Huge win in an intense 1-run game!  Welcome to mid-core Orange Crush! (namely Blazey, scotty, and ahern).  I wouldn’t be surprised if both our teams meet again in one of the most anticipated championship games of all time in world history)

Shout out to…

Team Pink (Kellen, Tyson, Skeelo, Nate, Ollie, Brian, Matty)!!!  Wow what a day, after kickball and some delicious chicken strips at Leny’s we took home the tour championship at Greenlake.  Great year and event, good job sam.

This is really interesting…

unfortunately? the fun times aren’t over.  BBQ at Sam’s house tonight, all day whiffle ball tournament tomorrow, and then possibly Kells Saturday night, why not?

The soapbox…

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!!!  I think Steph’s officially better than me in golf.  Seeley was the most well behaved she’s ever been while golfing, she sat down at every green and tee box until everyone was done.  meaning she’s probably better at golf than me too (she had some glow gear of her own).  “in case you’re wondering my jacket size is 44 long, and my right arm’s just a little longer than my left”

Shout out to…

Holzer, Nate, Shana & the Klitz’s for another fun time in Portland.  We ate at “apizza scholls” and it was easily the best pizza I’ve had in portland.  Oh and somehow nebel got roped into signing “like a prayer” by madonna with me at the pengiun.  I think he traditionally likes to rock a little harder than that.  “Likes to rock?”

Shout out to…

Birthday shout out to Dan Buri who turns the big 2-9 today!!

This article (thanks JB) about the ref from the super bowl the seahawks were in a couple years ago admitting he kind of blew it.  I guess he apologized to the team at camp last week.  My favorite was when hasslebeck threw an interception, then tackled the guy who intercepted it but was called for a “low block”, since apparently you’re not allowed to tackle the guy with the ball.  Oh on a side note the mariners are 22 games out of first place and just fired their manager.

Shout out to…

Mikey Ouert for buying his plane ticket for Seattle the last weekend of October.  Check out this lineup and then consider buying a ticket for yourself:  Karaoke, UW-stanford football, Halloween

The soapbox…

Happy Monday everyone

Lately I’m thinking…

I’ve got football season fever (this is a tailgaiting picture in case you couldn’t notice)

Shout out to…

Brian and Kelly Woodward who got married on Saturday.  Wow what a blast – open bar for a 12:00 PM on the lake.  The only downside was the dance floor was kind of at a slant so everytime I stood up from dancing like an idiot I usually fell into someone, which was actually much more preferable than just falling into the lake.

Shout out to…

my golf partner Kellen at the Jefferson open – we took 2nd and it’s probably safe to say my play wasn’t the main reason why we did well.

Lately I’m thinking…

sorry for the no update yesterday – i was home sick and am still not feeling well today.  I probably would have updated yesterday though if i had a picture to use, but i was kind of blocked there which stopped all my momentum

Kickball season “kicks” off (ZINGGGGGGG x 100) in 2 days and football practice kicks off in 6 wowzers!

Stuff is going down in college football! USC just go smacked with a 2 year bowl ban and 10 less scholarships each year for 3 years. Nebraska is now in the big 10, which actually already had 11 so now they’re kind of the big 12. And the former big 12 had 11 (for about 6 hours), but technically they could call themselves the big 10 based on the precendent of incorrect naming set by the former big 10. still with me? let’s move onto the next line at least

Well since then Colorodo has already left the former big 12 for the pac-10. That’s just another domino falling in a possible mega pac-10, who if anything will add utah but more than likely add Texas, A&M, Tech, OU, OSU instead. I like the tradition of the pac-10 in that they were the only conference to play a full round robin schedule, but there’s a reason no other conference did that. It guarantees 1 more loss for half of the conference. Besides that our TV contract was absolutely horrible and we weren’t making as much money as other conferences. It’s estimated each school will make 20 million more a year now if it ends up being the pac-16. Oh and even more late-breaking news….Jake Locker was voted “sexiest jake” against jake gyllenhaal on espn sportsnation last night

Shout out to…

The Unit – we’ve officially been in our house for 1 year today. That’s pretty crazy to think about how fast it went by. Just got a couple new plants yesterday too to bring the total up to 4 (yes plantar is still hanging on). One year later I’m still hoping for power blinds though. Obviously nobody that reads this thing has taken my subtle hint to just go buy me some power blinds!!!

This is really interesting…

Golden Tate (rookie on the seahawks) was caught “breaking in” to a top pot donuts in seattle a couple days ago. Turns out he lives in the building and knows the owner, so went in there one night for a maple bar. Someone saw him and called the cops, even though no charges were filed. At a press conference he said “since I’ve moved to seattle I’ve been eating top pot dounts, the maple bars are irresistable”. When Pete Carrol was asked about his said “Those maple bars are pretty irresistable”. classic

The Soapbox:

Oh ya masoli was kicked off oregon yesterday. He was never really known for his passing, but going from heisman candidate to suspended for a year to kicked off the team was a pretty good run!! zing!!

This is really interesting…

Well prom is tomorrow – I’m on the prom committee and we spent last night finalizing the music (dope jams) and scoped out the venue. Funny thing is I’m not making any of that stuff up. Anyways, hopefully everything goes smoother than my ‘Anything for love’ dance at the Thompsons wedding

Lately I’m thinking…

I seriously don’t have anything to talk about – i hope this doesn’t ruin my credibility with my 4-5 different readers. I don’t even have anything boring sports related. Oh yes I do, the ncaa/nba needs to change their draft rule. Kentucky is just becoming a revolving door for people playing 1 year. I say it should be a mix of baseball and football rules – you can either declare for the nba out of high school, or if you go to college you have to play at least 3 years. I should be on a committee

Shout out to…

Joey – nice job with the sit, stay and shake with the dog. I remember when we had seeley sit, stay, run up to us and shake in puppy class before they even taugh shake – the whole crowd gasped and then clapped. A year and half later whenever you say anthing, Seeley sits, tries to shake, howls and then lays down, basically running through all she’s got trying to get a treat. She definitely hit her peak as far as training goes when she was a puppy – now she’s just on her own schedule living the good life

Shout out to…

Duke (and Heather)!! That was a really good game the whole time, I think the biggest lead was 5 or 6 and that only lasted about 2 plays. Butler is a really good team – I understand that they play where Hoosiers was filmed, and don’t have anywhere near the tradition of Duke, but they were not a cindarella team in my opinion. They were ranked 2 spots behind Duke when the season began so I don’t know why people were so surprised they did well and ya they have a small school, but it’s the same size as wake forest and only 2,000 less than duke. When wake forest wins a couple games in the tourney (honestly that doesn’t happen too often) does everyone say “whoa a school with only 4,000 students won a game!” uhh no, and i’m not even sure what the size of the student body at a school has to do with how good the 10 person basketball team is, it’s not like they’re picking walk ons from people already enrolled at the school, but I feel like that’s all I heard about all week. Anyways Butler should be a top 3 pre-season team next year, and I’d vote them #1 considering they lost by 2 in the chamionship game and return almost everybody, but that probably won’t happen. On a side note, comparing this era to the one of John Wooden just isn’t going to work because it was so different, but as far as the modern era goes coach K has definitely separated himself

This is really interesting…

Mitch brought up a good point about 2 in 1 soap and shampoo – it’s great for a gym bag so you only have to pack one item. Sports!

This is really interesting…

The Mariners are on a torrid pace this year for wins. In honor I’m going to post baseball pics all week from the Ba-joe-lor party weekend. I only have about 4 from that weekend, so that should work out pretty well. And even though Sunday was technically opening day and yesterday really was opening day, we can’t go to the opening day of the Mariners until next Monday. Hopefully that gives Seattle enough time to get sunny and hot

Lately I’m thinking…

I think it’s outrageous that Oregon might have the highest paid coach in college basketball. Not north carolina, ucla, kansas or kentucky…but oregon. Will be intersting to see who they land. On a side note Mikey you’re totally right, Howard has a horrible mustache and it’s even funnier when he fouls (every 8 seconds) and gets called for one and then storms off with his mustache

The Soapbox:

Rant: I can’t believe they’re almost for sure going to expand the tournament to 96 teams. All everyone says every year is how great the tournament is and how much better than college football it is, and now they’re changing it. Actually the reason they usually give for not making football into a playoff is because the students will miss more school, and yet in basketball teams will miss somewhere around 3 extra days now and for some reason that’s not a problem. It also makes the regular season a lot less important now, St Johns went 6-12 in conference and they probably would have made it in. unc would have made it in really easily. What I’m worried about is it will resemble the nba, and players won’t play hard all year because they’re just waiting to “turn on the switch” for the tournament. I can’t imagine very many people paying to see those first couple round games in a neutral location either, I know I wouldn’t. Oh ya and filling out a 96 team bracket sounds like it will take forever…
